It would be good to wait for official confirmation.

11 to 14 days is plenty of time to spread the word.

This message fragment also came in, the sender put the whole message into the subject field and it got cropped:

URGENT - SOUTH CAROLINA RON PAUL SUPPORTERS - LEW MOORE NATIONAL CAMPAIGN MANAGER FOR RON PAUL WILL BE IN GREENVILLE, SC TUESDAY NIGHT TO MEET WITH US!!! I NEED YOUR HELP TO CONFIRM HOW MANY FOR A VENUE ( WE CURRENTLY MEET AT ITALIAN MARKET & GRILL HOLD A

That eventful link says something about first 350 to confirm can get in. I'm curious about how much it's going to cost to get in. I realize they would like to make a little money for their GOP, but if it's more than $10 a person, we are absolutely not going to pay it, since we're coming from out of state to begin with. But we definitely will hit the rally. I'd love to hear Paul speak again, though... it's a pretty good time.

Can anyone from SC orgs confirm door cost, etc? Oh, and if you can suggest a nice bed and breakfast, that'd be sweet too! :)

Is the fundraiser the question and answer session Beltram proposed?

If so, shouldn't we want locals to get in first?

Yes and Yes.
I understand that this venue can hold about 1000 people.
I'm willing to miss the speech and hang out outside with a banner so that others can get in.
There will also be a rally in Greenville (only about 5 miles away) which we can all attend without worrying about excluding the locals.

As far as I know, we do not yet have a confirmation from campaign HQ for this event, hopefully that will be coming soon.

Thanks for the info. :)

For now I'll say that I will be there, pending an official announcement from the campaign.

If people coming from up north want to meet in Charlotte, we can get a big group together to go down!

Same here if folks coming from the south want to meet up in Anderson for a caravan to Spartanburg.

This Upstate SC news article has more info about the upcoming visit to SC by Ron Paul.
It looks like the Beltram deal is still being negotiated but:
...
But Paul spokesman Jesse Benton said the campaign has only tentatively accepted Beltram's offer. He said details still have to be worked out on the format.

"I know Mr. Beltram has sent something out to his e-mail list saying what he thinks the format should be, but we haven't agreed to anything on paper," Benton said. "But we're going to come to the area (on July 21) whether or not we can come to an agreement with Mr. Beltram."

Outcast candidate now moneymaker

By ROBERT W. DALTON, [email protected]
Published July 8, 2007

Money, Cyndi Lauper once sang, changes everything.

Spartanburg County Republican Party Chairman Rick Beltram began a topsy-turvy week by saying that GOP presidential hopeful Ron Paul could "stay home." After an uprising from Paul supporters across the country, Beltram relented and invited the Texas congressman to schedule a visit.

Now Beltram hopes to turn a profit on the event, scheduled for noon on July 21. The cost for the luncheon and a question-and-answer session is $25, with proceeds going to the county party.

The site - either the Aloha Restaurant or Summit Pointe Meeting and Events Center - will be determined based on ticket requests.

Beltram said he's guessing about 200 people will show up. Chris Lawton, a Paul supporter from Greer, said Beltram should guess again. Lawton on Saturday sent out an "urgent" e-mail to the Paul faithful, announcing the visit and proclaiming "limited seating for the first 1,000 who confirm now."

Beltram."

Beltram said his plan for the event would have members of the audience submitting written questions. He said such a format would give Paul the opportunity to clear up any lingering confusion over comments the candidate made during a May debate in Columbia.

Firestorm over 'blowback'

It was during that debate that Paul defended an explanation of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks known as "blowback" - that American intervention in foreign affairs contributed to the attacks on New York and Washington, D.C. Paul's remarks drew an angry response from former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani and led Beltram to place Paul on his personal "no-fly" list.

Beltram said he received more than 200 e-mails and voicemails from Paul supporters claiming he had misconstrued the candidate's remarks. Paul now has a chance to set the record straight, Beltram said.

"What he needs to accomplish here is properly articulating his philosophy so he's not misunderstood, since I guess so many of us misunderstood him at the debate," Beltram said. "He's got to make it appear that he has a platform that's winable within the Republican ranks."

Chance to tell message

Lawton said that won't be a problem. He said the visit would give Paul the chance to get his message out in this crucial early-voting state.

"It's a chance for people to hear his plan for less taxes and getting us out of foreign entaglements," Lawton said. "I think people are tired of big government breathing down their necks."

Blah, $25 kind of sucks.

I wonder if the campaign can get them to crank that down to $10.

I'd assume that if someone either donated facilities for the event or if the campaign found a ball field or local park to speak at, the cost could be cranked down to Zero.

I see no reason to have the event at either of the locations Beltram suggested.
I checked the satalite picture of the chinese restaurant and it's not going to hold anywhere near the crowd expected, and parking in the area seems tight.

The banquet hall seems to be on the high scale end, looking at their website, and I'm sure there are cheaper venues out there, such at the USA Economy Lodge that can hold just as many people. (I also like the USA Economy name being linked to Paul).

Knowing what little I know about Beltram, I'd guess he's getting a kickback from the two specific locations he mentioned. Either way he wants to turn this into a joint GOP fund raiser / RP Bashing party, but we should still exploit his greed to our advantage as he is trying to exploit Ron Paul to his.

Yeah, can you SC folks get hooked up with the Campaign and see if we can score a better venue? That would be pretty awesome.

About 20 MILLION people within a ~3 hour drive

If we can just get 1/100th of a single %, then we can have 2,000 people there.
