Democrat Mike Gravel and Ron Paul will have a private meeting on Tuesday in the DC area. As some of you may know, Sen. Gravel will likely be running in November as the Green party candidate, and is known to be fishing for a VP candidate.

(Scroll down to a post made by campaign staff member Skyler McKinley titled "Not Planned")

I don't see Paul and Gravel working together like that... Gravel is better than some, in my opinion, but he is a socialist.

Ron Paul is fighting with every last step to get his platform on all parties. We should be doing the same. FREEDOM does not have a party

Ron Paul also met with Bob Barr (potential Libertarian candidate) a couple of weeks ago. Maybe he's looking at his options for an endorsement.

it is easy to see what Ron Paul is doing. We must fight to do the same.

Honestly, someone who is truly concerned about universal health care would be scared to death of McCain or Obama. Either one of them might end up pushing a Federal Health Board. McCain might if Romney's his VP since the Massachusetts plan basically created a State Health Board. With a Democratic majority in Congress such a proposal would be praised because it would mean more government in health care.

So getting Gravel to talk about something like that and the war, it might help bring opposition against both.

Then again, is it possible Gravel is wanting to get a meeting because of Paul's position on the war?

Gravel's too damaged to be president.

I live in New York state... a very blue, democrat state....I know alot of people in unions and such and active in the democrat party....they mostly think Gravel is a nut (Congrats neolibs on doing as great a job as suckering the liberals to go along with your ways as the Neocons did with the conservatives :)........

The one thing I like about gravel is his platform to allow citizens to propose laws that could be voted upon........a little too late....but a nice Idea nonetheless....

I'd vote Gravel before I voted McCain. Gravel strikes me as a grumpy old man. McCain is freaking insane.

ditto...

I'd actually vote for Hillary before McCain......

But since im writing in Ron Paul........I don't have to worry about holding my nose between them two.......or Gravel.....

Gravel actually led me to Ron Paul .. I stumbled upon him one day from a forum and got interisted in politics again. Then I checked everyone else out and became a Paulite for life. So I owe Gravel alot and he would be my number 2 easy.

Gravel proposes direct Democracy as a path to "world government", not to mention just passing laws in general....an absolutely terrible idea if you ask me (this is a Republic, NOT a Democracy).

Either way, I doubt if this news is true, but it's interesting none-the-less.

What is it about Gravel that classifies him as nutty? I'm not being snarky, I'm actually interested.

Well my opinion about these meetings is that they might be planning the next phase in the movement. (remember this isn't just about Dr.Paul)

Perhaps we may start seeing a movement for united Constitutional party, with Pap Buchanan, Andrew Napolitano, Bob Barr, Goldwater jr. etc.... or just a private organization like Liberty PAC.

I'd expect to see more of these meetings.

My guess:

Paul wants Gravel's list of supporters, their contact information, and Gravel's grassroots leaders info.

I am guessing that he views anyone that supported Gravel as a potential ally / easy convert.
