Every bug and creature seem to add to the survivual of someone, but not ticks. I tried to feed one to a lizard and he ran. .

I've always thought the same of wasps, they just seem to annoy picnic-goers for a living.

And I just noticed your name, this wasn't intentional :p

Speaking of useless, the human appendix is quite useless and, due to appendicitis, kills hundreds in the US every year.

lol!

Eta - I stepped in a nest of them once when I was a child. Possibly the worst experience of my life. There were literally hundreds, maybe thousands crawling up my leg.

lol I had a similar expereince when I was a young girl. Went out for the first time with my boyfriend , who later became my husband. We were hiking and I stepped in a nest of hornets and I ran shedding all my clothes off and my poor boyfriend following me picking up my clothes. Than some man came running up and said someone reported us to the ranger station that there was a naked woman running around. How embarrassing.?

Nope, the appendix fulfills an important function. It was discovered within the past 10 years, so you're going off old info ;)

I'm neither a doctor, nor do I have access to studies, but as far as I know, there have only been theories about how the appendix may assist in production of "good" bacteria, and there are no significant consequences of having your appendix removed (aside from potential complications from surgery).

They infect animals, thus ensuring the sick and vunerable die and the strongest genes make their way into the gene pool.

did you ever have one hook into you? The red ones are the worst. You have to screw them out or the heads will stay in your skin. Tthey can cause terrible allegic reactions to some people. My late husband's whole arm swelled up. When the kids were little they would pick those ticks off from the dogs and cats and themselves and put them on top of the hot wood stove. The ticks would swell up like popcorn and turn black like old maids(popcorn that don't pop). They had a friend over and he thought they were old maids and started to eat them. We all shouted.

After reading this thread I am only left with three thoughts.

1.) Why would you try to feed a tick to a lizard?

2.) Ticks are one of the worst creatures on earth and the way they burrow into your skin and suck the blood out of everything makes them on the same level as an Obama supporter to me.

3.) The next time my Wife rejects my advances for any reason than I am going to dump a bucket of hornets on her and those clothes should come off in record time.

I hate ticks with a passion
