I wonder if Rand is also pleased with the sanctions? You would think that if Trump wants to deescalate, he would stop with the sanctions

I have no idea what Trump has in mind in terms of sanctions. They're already under crippling sanctions and can barely sell their oil or access the international banking system. We will have to study the detail. Trump says a lot of things.

The point is that him keep saying that he will increase the pain on the "regime"(read Iranian people) doesn't jive with his rhetoric of wanting peace.
