Biden Administration Stonewalls COVID-19 Investigations

Dr. Rand Paul Grills USAID Administrator Power at Senate Foreign Relations Hearing

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, at a Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing, U.S. Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) questioned Samantha Power, Administrator of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) on the agency’s inability to turn over information requested by Republican Senators on the origins of COVID-19.

You can watch Dr. Paul’s questioning HERE and find excerpts from his questioning below.

“In September of last year, I wrote Ms. Power or USAID a request asking for records from the PREDICT program. These are not classified. These are simply records of scientific research. And we want to read the grants to find out what they were doing and whether the research was dangerous or not. The response I got from your agency was USAID will not be providing any documents at this time.

“They're just unwilling to give documents on scientific grant proposals. We're paying for it. They're asking for $745 million more in money, and we get no response.

“20 million people died around the world. You're supposed to be an agency that cares about the death of people around the world. We, you know, talk about starvation and famine and 20 million people died from a virus. And you won't give us the basic information about what grants you're funding around the world and who you're funding.”

“The American people think this, that because you won't respond because you respond with a non-response, that you have something to hide. I don't know if you have anything to hide or not. I want to see every grant proposal that had to do with coronaviruses that went to China from the U.S. government, from all facets of the U.S. government and every bit of the Biden administration is stonewalling us and will not give us the information…You are not being honest.”

Background:

While Dr. Paul had the opportunity to question Administrator Power today, this isn’t just a USAID problem of concealing information, this is a Biden administration-wide problem in which there is a concerted effort to withhold critical information from Congress on the origins of COVID-19.

Recently, Dr. Paul and more than 20 Republican Senators sent five separate letters to various members of the Biden administration requesting previous outstanding requests for agency records relating to federally funded work involving dangerous pathogens, including grant awards to EcoHealth Alliance, the Wuhan Institute of Virology, and other entities in China.

The letters were sent to Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Secretary of the Department of Human Health Services Xavier Becerra, Secretary of the Department of Defense Lloyd Austin, Acting Director of the National Institutes of Health Lawrence Tabak, and Administrator of the U.S. Agency for International Development Samantha Power.

The requested information in the letters were due back to the Senators by April 10, 2023. To date, none of the agencies have provided the Senators with the requested materials.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, Dr. Paul has sent dozens of letters to federal agencies requesting documents relating to the origins of COVID-19, gain-of-function research, and the U.S. governments culpability in funding risky virus enhancing research that likely caused COVID-19. The American people deserve transparency, and Dr. Paul will continue to leave no stone unturned in search of accountability.

The Republicans control the house. They should zero out all funding to these agencies until the documents are turned over.

The Republicans control the house. They should zero out all funding to these agencies until and force documents to be turned over.

^ Fixed a couple of typos ^ Especially since it is OUR money.

Rand seeks info on CIA Whistleblower Allegations Concerning COVID-19 Origins Investigation

Dr. Rand Paul Leads Letter Requesting Information on CIA Whistleblower Allegations Concerning COVID-19 Origins Investigation

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senators Rand Paul (R-KY), Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Ron Johnson (R-WI) and Rick Scott (R-FL), sent a letter to the Director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), William J. Burns, requesting information on the recent whistleblower allegations related to the CIA’s investigation into the origins of COVID-19.

According to a letter from the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic (Select Subcommittee) and House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI), a recent whistleblower testimony made by a senior-level CIA Officer contends that the Agency paid off six analysts that determined COVID-19 likely originated from a lab leak. The letter states that the CIA assigned seven officers with significant scientific expertise to a COVID Discovery Team. After their review, six of the seven members believed the intelligence and science available were sufficient to make a low confidence assessment that COVID-19 originated from a laboratory in Wuhan, China. The letter asserts that the six members were given a significant monetary incentive to change their position, leading to the CIA’s public determination of uncertainty on COVID-19 origins.

“These allegations are deeply concerning and raise serious questions about the Agency’s investigation into the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic,” the Senators wrote. “For this reason, we request you provide our offices with the following information no later than September 25, 2023.”

The Senators requested the following information in response to their letter:

  1. All documents and communications regarding the establishment of all iterations of the COVID Discovery Team(s);

  1. All documents and communications between or among the members of all iterations of the COVID Discovery Team(s) regarding the origins of COVID-19;

  1. All documents and communications between or among members of all iterations of the COVID Discovery Team(s) and other employees or contractors of the Agency regarding the origins of COVID-19;

  1. All documents and communications between or among members of all iterations of the COVID Discovery Team(s) and employees or contractors of other federal government agencies, including but not limited to the U.S. Department of State, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (to include the National Institutes of Health and the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases), and the U.S. Department of Energy regarding the origins of COVID-19; and

  1. All documents and communications regarding the pay history, to include the awarding of any type of financial or performance-based incentive/financial bonus to members of all iterations of the COVID Discovery Team(s).

Rand has a book about Fauci [Deception: The Great Covid Cover-Up]

Rand was just on Hannity promoting his new book that comes out on October 10. Sounds interesting!

Deception: The Great Covid Cover-Up

Senator Rand Paul was on to Anthony Fauci from the start. Wielding previously unimaginable power, Fauci misled the country about the origins of the Covid pandemic and shut down scientific dissent.

One of the few leaders who dared to challenge "America’s Doctor" was Senator Rand Paul, himself a physician. Deception is his indictment of the catastrophic failures of the public health bureaucracy during the pandemic.

Senator Paul presents the evidence that:
• The Covid virus was likely the product of gain-of-function research at the Wuhan lab in China—research funded in part by the U.S. government.
• Taxpayer dollars for that research were deceptively funneled to Wuhan without the required regulatory review.
• Fauci and his scientific yes-men knew from day one about Covid’s origin and tried to cover it up.
• Fauci and his allies ruthlessly attacked everyone—including highly qualified scientists—who threatened to reveal the truth about the pandemic.

Why? Hundreds of millions of dollars of grants and unreported royalties were at stake, and heads would roll if the truth got out.

It almost worked. At Fauci’s insistence, the government imposed needlessly extreme lockdowns on Americans at the cost of immense personal and economic destruction.

Covid-19 was deadly, but the real killer was the coverup, led by America’s most durable medical bureaucrat—a man for whom the truth was too often expendable.

Senator Paul makes a powerful case that funding dangerous bioengineering in a totalitarian country is madness. If we don’t heed this warning, the next pandemic could be far worse.

Corporate Press in unison: "See?! He doesn't care about the truth; he's just trying to sell books!"

Reading the book right now, and I agree with Rand 100 percent.

If we do not toss a net over these criminals and mad scientists, they will (or have done so already) develop and release, accidently or on purpose, a "superbug" that will kill billions of people globally.

Rand Paul on the Lab Leak 'Deception'

"When I first heard about the debate [over the origins of COVID-19]…I assumed that the scientists were being honest with us," says Sen. Rand Paul (R–Ky.). But his mind changed after reading a May 2021 article self-published on Medium by former New York Times science journalist Nicholas Wade. "As I began looking at this, the evidence, I think, was very, very strong that it came from a lab."

Paul, who has a new book called Deception: The Great COVID Cover-Up, famously clashed with former National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Director Anthony Fauci in multiple Senate hearings over the question of whether his agency funded risky "gain-of-function" research in Wuhan, China, that Paul believes may have resulted in the creation of the virus that caused the COVID-19 pandemic. Gain-of-function research involves enhancing the transmissibility or deadliness of viruses in human tissue. Fauci denied ever funding such research, telling Paul in July 2021, "You do not know what you're talking about."

But Paul tells Reason that the evidence that Fauci was lying has been piling up since then.

"It's a felony to lie to Congress," says Paul. "It's punishable by up to five years in prison."

He referred the matter to Attorney General Merrick Garland for criminal prosecution but says he's received no reply.

"It is a huge cover-up [by] not just Anthony Fauci, but throughout government, eight different departments of government," says Paul. "The [National Institutes of Health] is more secretive at this point than the CIA."

Paul has introduced multiple bills and amendments to cut public funding for gain-of-function research, to reform how the federal government funds scientific research, and to prohibit government officials from meeting with social media companies for the purpose of censoring legal speech.

"If Twitter wants to censor me or YouTube wants to take my speech down because I say masks don't work, that is their prerogative," says Paul. "But I do think that a consistent libertarian position is telling the FBI, Department of Homeland Security, [Centers for Disease Control and Prevention], [President Joe] Biden's spokesmen…that they can't be meeting on a weekly basis with either overt or implied threats of, 'You need to do this or else.'"
