I watched the LP convention today and didn't know much of Wayne Root before today. What do you all think of this guy?

Personally, I think he seems like a douche and will not be good for the LP ticket at all.

I think he's a (former?) used-car salesman. That's the rumor anyway.

In all seriousness, he endorsed a McCain-Lieberman presidential ticket 2 years ago. Draw your own conclusions.

I would've thought he was a used car salesman too.

Seems like the LP party made a huge mistake. I never followed the LP very much, but it seems to me that Ruwart would have been a much better choice for two reasons:

#1: She would have taken a lot of votes because she is a humble and well how to put it...exhibits good womanly qualities that Hillary lacks.

#2: She has a long history of battling the Drug War, counteracting the concern many people have regarding Barr's past on the issue.

I believe Ruwart was offered the VP spot, but she declined. Probably because she didn't want to be associated with a social conservative interventionist like Barr.

I would never buy a car from that man. He seems quite untrustworthy.

I know she wasn't fond of him, but Root was voted in as VP.

He definitely fits the libertarian stereotype

WAR is the most recent "convert" to conservatism (he was previously a neocon). He's loud, arrogant, and fails to meet my requirements as far as libertarian purity (unlike Barr).

I'm not a huge fan of Root (then again, who pays attention to the running mate of a 3rd-party candidate? :p), but I'm glad Ruwart didn't get the nomination.

I liked a lot about her, and still want to read her books, but she was a terrible nominee. She couldn't conduct herself well in the debates (or even when being questioned) - she couldn't orate, but her answers rarely had a ton of substance either (look at her response to the child porn accusation)...

Wayne Allyn Root is a former Republican who left the GOP in 2006 after a meeting with Karl Rove about the Gambling Act they were about to enact, which took online money poker away from the players. He's a former Las Vegas sports-handicapper and holds a high respect in the Las Vegas circles. He converted to the Libertarian Party and took up a lot of their platform on the issues.

He is a big fan of Barry Goldwater and he is loud. He's very charismatic and I think he'll complement Bob Barr extremely well, but Barr's campaign team needs to get him under control quick and not let him fly-off on his own agenda. End this "4 year Barr/Root, then Root in 2012!" and change the talk to "8 years Barr/Root, then Root in 2016!" I think admitting defeat before the election is not a smart move. But I know Barr's team is smart and can use Root to their advantage. I'd immediately start pushing to get on all the Conservative talk-radio shows and Conservative MSM shows. The magazines and certain papers will cover them, it's time to have a real media force for the LP.

Root was soooo annoying after he endorsed Barr after round 5. You could tell Barr wanted him to shut the hell up too. I was hoping the delegates would select someone else for VP. Kubby or Ruwart would have been fine and would have definatly led for me to vote for Barr. Ruwart was definatly not presidential material but she could have added a good balance to the ticket. I am so on the fence about voting either Barr or Baldwin i am hoping for a Ron Paul miracle to happen to makle it easier :)
