Pulled over by FBI (Attempted Taser) for wearing Helmet!!!!

The worst part is the pro-authoritarian comments posted.

Well, I didn't hear the cops say anything about getting out of the car. So, he probably shouldn't have gotten out of the car. The rest happens off-screen though, so I don't think we'd be able to make a judgement call on the tasering or whatever else may have happened to him.

Taser Avoided because the assaulted America was wearing Armor!

The guy in the first video deserved to get that treatment. He was not following directions. But I agree he should have never been pulled over in the first place.

I got pulled over for wearing a dirt bike helmet once. Cop just checked our id and let us go.

Don't fuck with cops during a road stop. Unless you're trying to win a Darwin award.

Well, I don't know if it's fair to say he deserved that treatment (although, again, since it was off-camera it's hard to say what kind of "treatment" he got).

However, I will say that he wasn't very good at de-escalating the situation.

If you are dressed like Gi Joe and not following directions you are lucky to not get shot let alone get your ass tasered. What the hell is this guy thinking "pathetic".

It just might get you shot....I've had a gun pulled on me for getting out my car, without being ordered and then my Skittles taken from me, poured on the street, and crushed to "make sure they weren't pills"; and all this for a cracked tailight lens. I asked the officer if she would pay for the candy that I had just bought, she said "i'm not allowed to do that"...This happened when I was 16, only 2 mos. after getting my license. I've also had countless other needless encounters such as getting pulled over for going through a traffic light that didn't even exist. I got very irrate with the cop on that one, and could've easily caught some brass lead...

So needless to say, I lost a lot of respect for 'law enforcement' officers very early in my life, and some are quite honest but a slim majority I've run into over the years have seriously rubbed me wrong...

Props to you for asking for the money you deserved from the damage. I'd be too scared. :D

He's paranoid about hurting his head, he didn't want to get on the ground.

(in the first video) The way he was dressed, it appears to me that he was intentionally TRYING to create this kind of incident so that he could create this very video. Look, I'm about as anti-authoritarian as it gets, but if I got a call about a "potential terrorist" and did a full on felony stop, this guy just comes charging out of his vehicle with kevlar and what appears to be some kind of body armor, starts walking towards the security perimeter ignoring the warnings to stop and get on the ground, yeah, even I would taze first and ask questions later.

I agree with the posters who have been saying that we don't know what happened off camera so we really can't judge. Did he really come out with hands open and stop, saying "I'm not armed" (I didn't hear him say that) or did he intentionally look provocative, advancing on the perimeter, hoping to provoke the cops for the sake of his video?

Looks to me like he was being intentionally provocative, and he was literally asking for what he got.

And anybody who knows me, KNOWS I have a serious beef with police brutality. My whole blogsite is literally covered with complaints against police brutality and the encroaching police state.

But this guy, from what I was able to see in the video, does NOT meet the requirements for police brutality. How the heck are the cops supposed to know this guy didn't have a bomb under his body armor? It wasn't ballistic body armor, so if there was a bomb, the blast would not have been contained.

Without seing the dashcams from the cops I really can't say; but I'd wager that he continued to advance on the security perimeter after he was told to get down, and empty handed or not, you don't need to pull a concealed pistol to trigger a vest bomb.

Sorry guys, I'd have to go with the cops on this one, and honestly this is one of the first taser vids I've ever seen that I'd honestly side with the cops on. I think I saw a grand total of one other taser vid that I thought the cops did right, now compare that to hundreds I have seen that I thought they did wrong on.

So burn me at the stake if you must, but remember that I am about as anti-authoritarian as it gets, and that I do have a major beef with police brutality, but that in this case I'd have tasered him myself.

I'm going to watch the second vid now...

The second vid was a lot more messed up, yes. And I also agree with everyone who has been saying that the guy shouldn't have been pulled over in the first place. There was just no call for it. Wearing a helmet is not a crime.

But that first video, the guy did everything wrong, and it still honestly looks to me like he was trying to provoke the cops. In that one. After seeing the second video, quite possibly the first one was all a big misunderstanding. Who knows if the guy's brain injury makes him a little crazy. Maybe he wasn't quite rational when he charged out of his vehicle in full-on tactical gear in the middle of a felony stop, maybe he didn't quite have the presence of mind when he kept advancing on the security perimeter in full-on tactical gear despite being ordered to stop and get on the ground. Who knows, maybe it was all a big misunderstanding.

But seriously, I can very easily see the cop's point of view in that first video. I hate cops, but from what I saw in the first video, seriously, I'd have tased him too.

I read that other story about the guy that got pulled over & had his car searched
because he had a Ron Paul bumper sticker on his car. I was wondering if the oath
that a cop swears to when they become officers is the same oath that all cops take?
Also, if their oath is a standard oath for all cops, is there a section in the oath that
swears to uphold the ideals of the constitution?

you don't find that disturbing?

do you feel a certain type of hat makes for probable cause to investigate a crime without any sort of victim?

fashion choices should not result in a criminal investigation.

furthermore, force should only be applied when equal or greater force is being applied to an officer or a victim. disruptive language or action of any kind does not justify the application of force by an officer to gain compliance. it is not the job of the police to police the attitude of the citizenry. it is also lazy, weak, and pathetic for an officer of the law to use force to gain compliance with something that might quite possibly be unlawful.

its morally irresponsible, weak, constitutionally unacceptable, and pathetic.

if an officer asks you for your "papers" because of a type of helmet you are wearing, you have a responsibility to resist showing your papers. every time someone does not do this, the issue fails to make it to trial where the community can judge it.

I was wondering......Maybe the Kevlar helmet is lighter and more comfortable?

Maybe not.
