Does the president really have the power to abolish the Federal Reserve banking system? Similarly, can the president really abolish the CIA and/or FBI? Aren't these organizations independent and private?

I ask because I have talked to some people in my family who say that while Ron wants to do some great things, the executive branch doesn't actually have the power to do some of them. I don't have an answer to this, I could only respond by saying that at least the president can bring all of our troops home.

They're right he can't single handedly do those things without congressional approval. The president doesn't really have that much power. Paul is going to have to work with congress to enact these changes, which is why it's important to also elect other "Ron Paul" republicans/libertarians into office.

This doesn't end with the presidency; you have to get all branches.

Ron Paul would have a LOT of power!

He would have UNLIMITED PARDON POWER!

Good bye income tax!

Good bye war on drugs!

Good bye war on guns!

You have to change the system... you can just have a guy pardoning millions of people for 4-8 years.

The president isn't a dictator. He can't just declare an agency to be closed overnight. But he can veto bills he deems unconstitutional. He can order the military to bring troops home. He can reversed unconstitutional executive orders. And for example if he couldn't convince the congress to defund or abolish the War on drugs he can certainly place less emphasis on it.

Ron doesn't want to immediately abolish the federal reserve. He advocates removing all taxes from gold and silver first and allowing competitive currencies to circulate along side with the federal reserve notes. This will allow for a smooth transition.

By pardoning millions of people you will be changing the system!!!

Police will stop arresting tax evaders, non-violent drug users, and peaceful gun owners if they know suddenly they will be pardoned!
