''We are now seeing, in the collapse of major banks, that money vanishes, it is nothing. All these things that appear to be real are in fact secondary. Only God's words are a solid reality''.

He was referring to Jesus's words in Matthew Chapter 7, beginning "Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves."

VATICAN CITY (CNS) -- The current financial crisis pummeling the United States and beyond is a sign that the so-called "new economy" and its risky investments have failed, the Vatican newspaper said.

The booming growth of financial markets did not correspond to real growth or concrete development for society because it created an artificially robust gross national product, said a Sept. 24 article in L'Osservatore Romano."

Built on sand and out of playing cards, a design merely begging to fail.<IMHO> :p
...and as a result, the whole system is coming apart-and the FED is trying everything they can to prop it up!

We know the financial system is "too big to fail" and everything! :p

For money being nothing, the Vatican sure hordes a ton of it. Maybe the Vatican should contribute a little to the bailouts to help out the globe. Or at least contribute a little to help feed the starving children all around the globe. I'm sure they could find a better use for those million dollar pieces of art than having them sitting in a vault collecting dust.

Yes, I noticed in the newstory I read the pope was saying that while wearing a huge gold cross encrusted with gems.

The catholic church and by extension its autocratic ruler is one of the most richly vested men on earth. The vatican even has its own bank and is considered its own country, however many blocks that is.

Corrupt politician, meet corrupt wall street banker, meet corrupt religous leader.

Hmmm, funny, I bet he isn't seeing any of the Church's gold vanishing before his eyes...How long will it be before the church doesn't accept paper money for tidings??
