Peter Thiel On Why Competition Is For Losers

In the age of people like Thiel, it's really important that there are places left on the internet that can call this shit out. Even 4chan, which love it or hate it, used to be a good place for speaking truth to these kinds of things, has been compromised and is ultimately dead. Xitter is a false prophet and is just a platform for the Thiel Network.

4chan is mostly dead and barely generates any new content. Xitter has somewhat absorbed that role 4chan once upon a time was actually a fairly libertarian site overall but it doesn't really have much of an image of its own anymore.

Kiwi Farms is exactly what's wrong with nu-internet. A site filled with people who want to instigate things or stalk others and nothing else.

in a perfectly competitive market nobody makes a profit.

why would you want to compete instead of finding a way to differentiate yourself?

Appears to be following in the footsteps of old J. D. Rockefeller Sr. who often expressed his sentiment that “competition is a sin.”

Just another globalist asshole who wants to own everything and everyone.

Fuck him.

Lol...

If there's no profit, then the person who owns the business gets $0.

In a "perfectly competitive market", as the profit margin shrinks, the competitors go into different markets to differentiate themselves.

I tried to warn the forum about Peter Thiel back in 2016 but was rebuffed because "He gave a lot of money to Ron Paul don't cha know?"

So that they can claim to be libertarians, which they are not, to get buy-in and votes.

Palantir Adds an AI Company to Its Arsenal for Military and Spy Work

By Todd Feathers
November 7, 2024

Palantir and Anthropic have signed a deal to bring Claude to the Pentagon.

Further entrenching its position as spooks’ and soldiers’ go-to supplier for artificial intelligence, Palantir on Thursday announced that it will be adding Anthropic’s Claude models to the suite of tools it provides to U.S. intelligence and military agencies.

Palantir, the Peter Thiel-founded tech company named after a troublesome crystal ball, has been busy scooping up contracts with the Pentagon and striking deals with other AI developers to host their products on Palantir cloud environments that are certified to handle classified information.

Its dominance in the military and intelligence AI space—and association with President-Elect Donald Trump—has caused the company’s value to soar over the past year. In January, Palantir’s stock was trading at around $16 a share. The value had risen to more than $40 a share by the end of October and then received a major bump to around $55 after Trump won the presidential election this week.

In May, the company landed a $480 million deal to work on an AI-powered enemy identification and targeting system prototype called Maven Smart System for the U.S. Army.

In August, it announced it would be providing Microsoft’s large language models on the Palantir AI Platform to military and intelligence customers. Now Anthropic has joined the party.

“Our partnership with Anthropic and [Amazon Web Services] provides U.S. defense and intelligence communities the tool chain they need to harness and deploy AI models securely, bringing the next generation of decision advantage to their most critical missions,” Palantir chief technology officer Shyam Sankar said in a statement.

Palantir said that Pentagon agencies will be able to use the Claude 3 and 3.5 models for “processing vast amounts of complex data rapidly,” “streamlining document review and preparation,” and making “informed decisions in time-sensitive situations while preserving their decision-making authorities.”

What sorts of time-sensitive decisions those will be and how closely they will be connected to killing people is unclear. While all other federal agencies are required to publicly disclose how they use their various AI systems, the Department of Defense and intelligence agencies are exempt from those rules, which President-elect Donald Trump’s administration may scrap anyway.

Ferengi civilization was built on free enterprise, where earning profit was the sole meaningful goal in life, superseding all other endeavors.

This thread tracks on many levels, PAF. Well done. Thiel's duper's delight smirk at 1:50 mark tells the tale. The irony is that he and the rest of the Paypal (papal) Mafia were handed the means in the first place, so Thiel acts like he hit a triple after being born on 3rd base.

He's totally right.

Alta Vista was a far superior search engine to Google.

Didn't matter. Only capital matters in our system today.

The point is, using Tariffs [which negatively affects my pocket and small/medium businesses as opposed to conglomerates who aren't nearly as affected], along with tax-payer paid Federal Contracts [deeply embedded in the MIC], is not a true free market. Peter Thiel is not a free-market libertarian, but in fact an opportunist, just like Trump.

a.k.a they avoid competition.

a.k.a they avoid competition.

Yes and no.

Unless you have some entirely new concept for a business, the question always is, who is the richest guy in town? What are they doing? Can I do that? Do I want to do that? Can I do as good or comparable to them in quality and price in a market where they have weak exposure, or can I do better than them in either of those categories and go after their existing marketshare?

If not.. then who is the second richest guy in town? Same questions.

If not.. then who is the third richest guy in town? Rinse and repeat until you get a "yes".
