Paul/Buchanan '08

The real question is "why hasn't he?". But not our speculation. I'd like to hear his words on it.

Buchanan is a little too socially conservative for my taste. I'd be willing to bet if they ran on the same ticket, it would turn off more people than it would gain.

RP is extremely socially conservative--personally. I think Buchanan is the same way. They both highly respect the Constitution, though and would make a good team, IMHO.

Buchanan has leverage he was 2nd in Iowa in 96. Many Republicans that I've spoken to about Ron Paul are excited and they constantly mention that they haven't been this excited since Pat ran.

We don't want that guy as vp. He is too polarizing and will steal all the headlines.

We want someone who is modest and relatively unknown but above reproach. Napolitano would be very good choice in my opinion. The judge has backbone and is very respected by most conservatives.

I don't trust Buchanan. He likes attention way too much.

Yeah I don't have a problem with personal social conservatism, it's when you start forcing that onto other people. Buchanan has shown he is very open to that.

He wants a federal ban abortions.
A federal ban on homosexuality.
He also openly supported the whole "day of prayer" thing.
A federal ban on euthanasia.

Ron is a little more libertarian, at least in the federal sense, when it comes to politics.

Okay, to all you young'ns. :D

Pat Buchanan is another "MLK" issue. A lot of us "older folk" remember when he was RICHARD MILLHOUSE NIXON's speechwriter. I'm not sure what they're teaching about old RMN in "politically correct school" these days, but RMN was the FIRST socialist Republican President, and his VP, Spiro Agnew, makes Rudy Giuliani look like a really decent fellow.

I'd have a REAL hard time voting for a RP/PB ticket; my guess is that RP would "meet his maker" early in his term, and we'd be in for a Theocracy that would make us pine for the old Huckleberry Hound as our President.

Seriously... no.

Exactly. Since it is extremely likely Paul wouldn't survive an 8 year term, we need a total package - someone who very very closely matches Paul's beliefs. I would rather see a political nobody who has similiar ideologies get it than a somebody like Buchanan.

Only two VP canidates:
Judge Andrew Napolitano
Walter Williams

Both great, intelligent guys, but I prefer Napolitano because he's held political office

Maybe Buchanan can be the White House Chief of Staff. You know, that position has more real power than VP by orders of magnitude, but is vastly less face-time in the media.

"it is extremely likely Paul wouldn't survive an 8 year term"

I wouldn't say "extremely likely." He'd be 81, above average lifespan for men, but RP is healthy and excersizes every day.

He prefers to straddle the fence vaguely, it is much more rewarding financially and could keep him off the "pick up list" after the 08 elections.

Agreed! Napolitano would be a great choice.

Did anyone hear him last night on Michael Savage?? No way...Buchanan scoffed at Dr.Paul's response on the latest war du jour...
