LITTLE ROCK - Texas Congressman Ron Paul, who is seeking the Republican Party presidential nomination, paid a $15,000 filing Monday with the Republican Party of Arkansas to get his name on the state's presidential primary ballot.

Karen Ray, executive director of the state party, said a supporter of Paul's paid the fee Monday afternoon.

Paul is the fourth Republican candidate to pay the filing fee with the state GOP, Ray said. Last week, former U.S. Sen. Fred Thompson, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and Arizona Sen. John McCain each paid their filing fees with the party.

McCain also filed with the secretary of state's office to be on the ballot for Arkansas' GOP primary on Feb. 5.

The other Republican candidates did not file.

The filing period began Nov. 5 and ends on Monday.

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee has not paid the fee or filed with Secretary of State Charlie Daniels' office. Huckabee spokeswoman Alice Stewart did not return a telephone call seeking comment Monday.

Two Democrats, U.S. Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois and New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson, have paid their $2,500 filing fees with the state Democratic Party but have not filed with the secretary of state.

That's awesome! Someone obviously reached their $2300 limit is is looking for other ways to help. Also lets you know who is serious about running, former governor hasn't even filed...

That's good to see. I hope we see more things like this from supporters in the future because these deadlines being so soon the signature method migh not work so well and it would be a shame if a ton of the 5th money had to go to this.

BTW it would cost $750,000 to get on every single state ballot without signatures. So I guess at leat $15,000 down for Arkansas.

exactly, btw maybe big donors that have maxed out can contribute to a fund that will ensure Paul gets in state ballots if he does not get the required signatures etc.

How incredibly ridiculous in the difference in costs for filing fees between Republicans and Democrats. Unreal.

And of course Huckabee can't afford to file.

No. Thats actually one of the most annoying parts to getting on the primary ballot. Each state has different rules.
