There's still a question mark on the campaign site for the party affiliation change deadline in Kansas. I emailed the Secretary of State's office, but no answer so far.

Anyone know the deadline?

Alright, so I've got more information on Kansas.

The nomination procedure will involve caucusing on February 9, 2008.

The Kansas GOP has a website dedicated to their presidential caucuses: http://ksgopcaucus.org/

Here's an excerpt from the website:

Summary of the Delegate & Alternate Delegate Selection Process
Each Congressional District committee will elect 3 delegates and 3 alternate delegates. (The Congressional District committee is composed of those people elected by their county precinct people to serve at the district level.) The district level delegates and alternate delegates are required to vote for the winner of the overall total of their Congressional District caucus. This meeting will be held prior to March 31, 2008.
The state committee will elect 24 at-large delegates and 24 at-large alternates during the summer meeting of 2008. Each Congressional District is required to have equal representation from the at-large selections.
In order to be eligible to be a delegate or alternate delegate, a person must be a registered Republican and submit a self-nomination form to the state party. These forms will be available from the state party by December 1, 2007.

The 2008 National Convention Steering Committee has oversight of all these activities. This committee is composed of the Chair and Vice-Chair of the State Party, the Chairs and Vice-Chairs of each Congressional District, and one at-large member appointed by the State Party Chairman.

RP will need to pay $5,000 and file the following declaration of intention to file by January 8, 2008, in order to be on the caucus ballot: http://ksgopcaucus.org/Assets/Files/Declaration of Intent Form.pdf

NOTE:
All caucus locations will be announced by November 15, 2007.

All Kansans, please register Republican and then sign-up with the Kansas GOP to receive information re: the caucuses: http://ksgopcaucus.org/signup.htm

They have yet to make delegate paperwork available, but when they do, please file to become a delegate.

Caucus info is here...

Info is from the site.

The caucus is Saturday, Feb 9, 2008. In order to participate in the caucus, participants must be registered as a Republican by January 25, 2008 and must provide a photo ID at the caucus location.

Delegates-
(Is this the same 'delegate' we talk about on the forum?)

Self-nomination forms will be available from party headquarters on December 1, 2007 for all Republicans who are interested in the opportunity to attend the 2008 Republican National Convention.

Here is some more info from the site...

How The Process Works

The Kansas Republican Party decided to conduct a caucus to allow Republicans across Kansas the opportunity to have a voice in the nomination process. Late in the 2007 Legislative Session, the money for a presidential primary was removed from the state budget. Once this was finalized, the choice of whom the delegates from Kansas would support at the 2008 Republican National Convention was left up to the state party to determine. Kansas has not has a presidential caucus since 1988. Party leadership felt that a caucus would be an excellent way to involve new people in the Kansas Republican Party.

The Kansas caucus plan was designed to allow counties as much flexibility as possible should they chose to conduct a caucus in their area.

The plan is separated into two basic parts. The first part outlines the rules for conducting the actual caucus in your area. The second part details the delegate and alternate delegate selection process for the 2008 Republican National Convention.
