First time I saw it in a shop and didnt have a clue what it was, as most people not into PM would not as well. Its cheaper than gold though more rare and harder to mint and refine. It has volatility of platinum and is replacing it in jewelry because plat is getting super expensive.

There are not many options to invest in physical, some bars, russian balerina rounds, canadian maple leafs (low mintage), and L and Clark JM coins. Noticed that online dealers are always in short supply, cant imagine that there are even the fraction of investors for it as gold and silver.

When the price went to 1000 an ounce, a lot of the investment bars were sold for melt to industry. A small amount of investors in physical products on the market could cause premiums to go sky high. This is one metal that is currently under most investors radar.

Stay away from the mining stocks, its manipulated to the hilt as the amount of shares are small. Learned the hard way as it goes up like a rocket and falls like a lead ballon.

Guys on the Patriot News Hour were just talking about Palladium the other day. They said Russian Pa stockpiles are alot lower than previously thought. The Russian gov't will probably start reducing the supply to thwart a possible depletion of their stockpile, which could occur in 1-5yrs if they keep selling at the current rate.

If Russia cuts their supply to the market then that could have a huge effect on it's price since Russia is one, if not the largest supplier of Pa. But that would mean other miners might ramp up their production to meet demand. Pa is also found in nickel-copper deposits...so take that info and do with it what you will ;)

Palladium is an industrial metal, like silver. I expect it to do better than gold long term, especially given palladium's use in catalytic converters, etc.

Not to be confused with polonium.
