It feels like the forums here are chaos. I don't know how to flow with the topics ...

Does anyone have trouble following anything on these forums?? I follow Hawaii ... idk ... it's just so chaotic and that's just not me that's why I do my thing ...

It helps if you subscribe to one you are particularly interested in. :)

If you sign in first, then click on "New Posts" you will see all of the new posts from all of the sub-topics. That way you don't have to go clicking around on every sub-topic just to see what threads are happenin.

Then if you're interested in specific sub-topics like Hawaii, Grassroots Central, Health Freedom, etc, you can visit those as well and see what's been posted in the last few days..

I use new posts and auto - subscribe threads.

I'm sure following my posts seems chaotic, as I deal with a lot of the crap.

Also, we are building to a climax; many are getting worked up, shills are making their final moves, and new members  are finding a place.

Not sure what all can be done for the next couple weeks, but imagine it will all smooth out soon enough.

enjoy

:)

In the words of Terry Pratchett: "Chaos is found in greatest abundance wherever order is being sought. Chaos always defeats order because it is better organized." ;)

There is nothing organized about this board, if some meager rules were enforced then people would actually attempt to post things in the right sections. This is private property truth warrior, not government.

Its not surprising that your sticking up for your "right" to post every freaking link you come across though.

Decentralization may be chaotic but this movement under one authority would easily be silenced.

In my opinion the mods already practice enough discretion as it is.

The mods could actually introduce some guidelines to the forum that silenced no one. For instance, when necessary a "official" thread could be designated to cover a specific subject matter. That way when the 100th person decides to create a "I'm voting for the lesser of two evils thread", the mods can just merge it into a preexisting thread and spare everyone else.

If nothing else, being a mod here has taught me that anarchy just doesn't work in practice. I mean, many of our anarchists talk about how it should work, but then are just as bad as any in reality...

How does this board represent a failure of anarchy? I mean you could be right but I'm not seeing the parallel.

I don't think anarchists say that people can just get up on a soapbox and rant about anything they want on someones private property.

Not true. Ron Paul Forums does not equal life.

Fair enough, I'll retract my statement and continue watching. One would think though, that a board full of minarchists and anarcho-capitalists would be better at self-modding than most...

Chaos is, well, chaos. :D Got a beef? Take it up with the management.

Nah, not even 5% of them. ;)

Although I'm not an anarchist, I'd make this distinction:
Here at RPF, we're posting in a "confined space" that belongs to Josh. In other words, we're basically have a party in Josh's house, and the mods are the bouncers that are kicking out unruly guests. According to your experience on the forums, it would seem as though we would also need moderators in real life to keep people from being loud, obnoxious assholes, if we want any chance to live in peace or have civil conversations with our friends whatsoever. However, no matter how much the right is being eroded, speech is already pretty much free in real life! How many problems do you have with trolls running around in public and causing a nuisance? ;) I imagine you have none, and while there are several other reasons for this, one is that when you're out in public, you and your friends can move away from trolls, and when you're sitting in your living room having a conversation, you can kick the trolls on the street.
