Seriously, I live in Florida and even getting your concealed weapons permit is a bitch! I don't get how South Carolina, Texas, and Florida don't have open carry. Even California has open carry (only in rural areas)!!!!!! You would think a state like South Carolina the first state to leave the Union and causing the domino effect of states leaving the Union and leading to the Civil War would at least still have that same great respect for the 2nd...

Seriously, Florida should have open carry...The South of all places should have open carry and the most unrestricted CCW.

No, I havn't looked around those forums, but those 2 clips are amazing. Before seeing the first clip I never took the Ridley Report that seriously, now I seeing Dave Ridley assuring his open carry right as a citizen I really have some respect for him. That second clip just shows the completely unrational fear of a person who has a gun. Seriously just because may be carrying a gun doesn't mean they want to hurt somebody, in fact really when it comes down to it it means I want to save not only myself, but also others in harms way if I personally where really I found myself in a situation requiring a gun. Being armed means I am willing to sacrifice myself for the good of others including family, friends, or just anybody else stuck in the same shitty situation as me but I am armed. I just don't get it. After Columbine and now after Virginia Tech, why don't people get it? Arm yourself, protect yourself and family...sigh...

Happy shooting to you all, and please, I know it is getting hard to afford ammo (I can't afford to shoot anymore even with 12 guage and 9mm ammo) if you can, please shoot, and shoot your guns for all of us broke mofos who wish they could use their guns...

While I agree with you about being able to open carry....

WTF are you talking about with FL CWP being a bitch?????

It took me these steps to get one:

1: Get a passport photo from wallgreens ($10)
2: Pay some "intructor" $75 to hold my hand filling out the paperwork, and witness that I discharged a firearm safley.
3: Send in $75 to FL with the paperwork and passport photo
4: Wait 4 weeks.

That's it... I actually thought it was F'n EASY. Who would've thought that getting a CWP was EASIER than a F'n Drivers License...LMAO!!!:p

This was 3yrs ago... but I haven't heard about anything changing since:confused:

I'd love to open carry tho..

nice videos i hadn't seen the open carry one from Dave... it's good seeing that so when i OC i can have a plan on what to say and what not to say to the police.

As I understand it Open Carry IS NOT ALLOWED in Fl.
And for that matter why do you have th ask permission to exercise your natural RIGHTS.

From your own account, it is.

That is 4 steps TOO MANY.

Heer is a reasonable list.
1. Get a gun
2. put it in your pocket

Totally agree... .

But 4 steps are still FAR from a PITA. Other states have it ALOT more difficult, and truley qualify as PITAs.

FL is NOT one of those states.

Once again.. I'm not arguing that the idea of having to get a permit to carry is Disgusting, I'm just stating that FLs steps to do so are not a PITA.

I am glad that Concealed carry is Allowed in some states. It is a move in the right direction.
However I can understand that some would find Having to ask Permission, and Paying a Fee to exercise their Rights a PITA.
As for myself I would prefer Open Carry in most circumstances.
I don't believe that anyone should have to hide the fact that they are armed.

Have you considered that showing others you are armed may not be the best way to go about carrying a weapon?

Does it not attract the wrong attention whichever way you look at it?

I would feel less safe carrying a weapon open than concealed.

Unless you have eyes in the back and sides of your head, I don't see how carrying open when out in public can be justified. You become a walking target.

As with armed guards and police, you become the first that will be shot in the event a criminal wishes to rob somewhere or neutralize a threat (the guy he knows has a gun).

Surely it's best to carry concealed. That way, the criminals won't be so eager to take you out, not knowing you will be the first to stop them with deadly force. Then you have the advantage.

I really don't understand open carry or why people do it. It just makes no sense to me. Letting criminals know your armed seems backward.

If a school shooter wanted to unload rounds in to his classmates, he would take out the person open carrying first as he knows they will be the first to stop him. The shooter would have the advantage and will no doubt suceed in killing the person with open carry before he even has chance to realise he's about to be fired upon.

If the carry was concealed however, the shooter would be took down soon after he unloaded randomly in to the classmates.

Bottom line: Criminals love to know who'se armed and who'se not - who'se a threat and who'se not. It makes their job that much easier.

If they don't see you as a threat, you hold all the power. The element of suprise. Etc. That's the beauty of concealed carry.

Agree completely.

It's hard in the South because of Reconstruction. True Southerners haven't been in charge of the South since. You've got to understand that with the death of true liberty and freedom in the South at the end of the so-called Civil War the Imperialists of the Union had to be sure that the cotton states would no longer pose a threat to their plan for power and oppression.

The propaganda campaign that was waged in the South by the carpetbaggers and scalawags has had an everlasting effect... one that the South will probably never recover from.

Everyone carrying a side-arm.

Mmmm... 9mm are so accurate.l

Anyone experienced in firearms knows this is a bad idea.

Took mine only 2 weeks and i did the paperwork myself. I ended up spending a grand total of $117 to get mine. Also, if you're prior military, a DD-214 will suffice for the proof of firearms training.

Try getting a .44 mag licence in Australia.

I am required to fire it on a regular basis.

260 grains does me proud! Make my own ammo.

Vermont and Alaska are the only 2 states that allow concealed carry with out a permit. Anyone over 18 can carry a concealed handgun without even taking a test. Its about time NH passes a law like that. BTW I like your motto. =)
Owning a firearm, and carrying it, is a fucking huge responsibility.

Unless you are trained, practiced, and mentally competent, you should not be walking the streets with a handgun.
