On message boards people simply respond to the title

Do people just respond to titles?

Depends on if the article is interesting or not.


Most generally, on these forums in particular, they tend to give ideas we've already gone over and agree with. I usually avoid them altogether and seek out talking points from the most heated arguments (arguing > debating).
 
If I click on a thread I almost always read the whole post. If the post is super long or not formatted sometimes I tag the thread tl;dr and skip over it.
 
Or sometimmes the title is misleading as to the content of the post. Agrandizing to get clicks.
 
Only if the subject matter in the thread title appears to be really boring, this thread being an example. I wish I had not clicked on this thread and read the posts in it, but I did. I should have trusted my judgment of the the title, that it would be really boring.
 
The subject, the length of posts, and number of replies usually determines how I respond.

If it's a subject I feel strongly about, I will read through all posts, and make replies to many people's statements.

If it's a subject I have an opinion on, but it doesn't strike me hard, I'll just read the first post, and reply to it.

I don't just read the titles, but I read at least the initial post.
