Owasso Senator moves closer to running for governor

OWASSO -- State Sen. Randy Brogdon, R-Owasso, moved closer to entering the 2010 governor's race on Monday with the announcement he has formed an exploratory committee.

"I think it’s time we have a governor who believes in right and wrong, not just right and left," Brogdon said in a press release.

Brogdon recently registered a gubernatorial campaign committee with the state ethics commission.

David Tackett, a spokesman from Brogdon, said the two-term senator would make a formal announcement about his plans soon.

Brogdon has been active in the so-called taxpayers' bill of rights movement and is a national spokesman for the John Birch Society. He has also been outspoken in support of state sovereignty and in opposition to national identification cards and data gathering.

Heh. If he wins, I'm moving back to Oklahoma. :)

We may need you before then, though. Most of the state's newspapers love to villify him and Charles Key. Fortunately, the two major dailies in the state deprecated their readership so thoroughly by failing to be credible sources of news that they actually had to band together. Neither has anything like the sway with people they used to have.

Even so, it will be an uphill battle. But that's o.k.--we've learned a thing or two about how to fight those!

Hey, Free State Project: We're on our way to beating you to the punch! Shouldn't have gone Yankee! ;)

Well, I already forwarded the articles to some friends in Oklahoma with my thumbs up. :)

But yeah, I know what you're saying. There's going to have to be a massive grassroots effort to get his message out.

Groundpounders R Us!

I met him last weekend and was very impressed. He seems to be a man of great integrity as well as a man of principle.

Of course, first impressions aside I will do due diligence and look closer. He he measures up to even half my initial impression I would gladly support him.

methinks that a longtime JBS member running for any office like that is going to enter the race with a significant amount of grassroots supporters with actual experience; both in the state and nationwide. I credit the JBS with being one of the major reasons RP's presidential run actually got past the first 2 quarters of the primary season; more so than infowars and "truth" groups....
