Oklahoma marks another GOP Spat over Delegates

Posted on Ron Paul 2008 official Campaign website, hot off the press...
Thanks Anna!
Her Posting...
I will chime in here on the actual subject line, the Oklahoma Convention. My husband and I attended as delegates. We are not experienced enough to give an accurate description of what exactly happened. It did feel like a serious earthquake for the status quo! We liberty-lovers definitely made our presence known.

One interesting note: Two groups passed out fliers WITHOUT endorsements (to be officially disregarded per chairman’s orders, but they passed them out AFTER that announcement in the morning.) They both denounced what we were trying to do. One flier was actually humorous to me in trying to demonize us. I saved it and will scan later for a pdf.

I will let the active organizers comment here on what was actually accomplished. For now, we will go get some much needed rest.

Is it true that a few of the Congressional District delegates are Ron Paul supporters?

A handful, mostly from District 5. Less than half a dozen of our 41 delegates are our people. The World article linked to above is better than the one on District One, but as usual they bungled quite a few facts. Mr. Dunn was a Huckabee supporter, not "ours", but don't think for a second that this means he won't be a real asset to those of us in the G.O.P. grassroots nationwide--he's been a major help already. He's a very good man. We backed down on the rollcall vote when the establishment backed down on changing the delegate qualification rules (in violation of RNC rule 15c11). I was set to argue that this could disqualify our entire delegation, and feel sure we'd have defeated that part of the rules. Turned out not to be necessary, some of our people were able to talk them into dropping it while the rest of us ate lunch.

Just to set a few records straight...

By the way, we used the Robert's Rules provision that a delegate can move to have a certain section of a report ratified seperately from the rest to excellent advantage. I recommend this tactic.

Great Job, thank God for Intel on the Ground!

What's this I heard about approx. 500 additional delegates showing up after a lunch recess?

An additional five hundred could not have fit into the room, it was so full before lunch. I have no idea what that is.
