New to the Revolution

I'm new to the Revolution. It actually came around with me not paying attention. I discovered the Manifesto and Ron Paul via Amazon. I was looking for a book on the American Revolution, and saw this book. Heard the name Ron Paul before (although I can't remember where exactly) and decided to buy it. I didn't look at the product description until after I had bought it.

I used to hold some neo-con views. Through high school I had a history/government teacher who was a neo-con and pushed his ideas on us. Pretty much just trusted those ideas. He always promoted fox news over CNN and I was naive back then and trusted the media's opinion. I never had any interest in politics in the last 3 years because I failed to see how I could affect it/how it affected me.

I came over to Iraq last December, and it brings you to terms with a lot of things (and quickly). When you don't have the distractions of every day life like you have back in the States you start thinking a lot more.

I started questioning what I was taught to believe (my father always voted Republican because he assoicated them with lower taxes) and decided I wanted to look at what I believed in light of our Founding Fathers. And from there, I ended up getting the book (and also ordering The Revolution mini-series from the History channel [I know its not 100% accurate, but it will help me form a better picture])

Right now I want to develop what I believe, and be able to back up my beliefs. I'm going to start with economics and free market, then move on from there.

We are the last line of defense for America. If we don't speak up about the usurpation of Liberty who will?

SE Indiana I see? I'm from Cincy (home is by Hamilton for me). Cool seeing other people from around the same area.

we go through Cinn city quite a lot to visit family back in Ohio. Ah, I miss Ohio, we're thinking about moving back.

good to see a fellow Buckeye! :)

E Komo Mai :) (welcome)

One way or another, our numbers grow daily :D

Have you joined www.campaignforliberty.com yet? It ain't much, yet. But the "mission" page tells you the direction.

Are you coming to the Rally? www.rally.campaignforliberty.com Please do, it's gonna be the party of the year.

There are lots of effective projects we are running. Please look into them and see where you can pitch in. The more help we get the quicker we succeed.

And a word of warning about this forum. Any political forum has its share of flamers. This one, in particular, is a thorn in the establishments side and we get all kinds of dis-info agents coming through. Many act like supporters, but are just trying to make us look bad. Don't let 'em get to you. We may have a few crazy cousins, but not like some you may meet here.

We try to have a light hand to maximize the benefits of free speech. There is a handy "ignore" feature (click on the offenders name>ignore user). Feel free to flag over the top idiocy.

Again, welcome. We are real glad to have you.

enjoy

Welcome to the forums!

Beware of the overwhelming mod/admin tyranny - don't take it personally if they ban 3-5 of your accounts in the first month.

Welcome and check out our resources on rpf's ----there's the wiki and a lot of wonderful subforums. The Chat Room can be wild or mild.....

HEYYYY BRA! Wanna go down to Hale'Iwa off eighty tree and get some shaved ice?

Yeah I'll be back in hawaii after we get back from this glorious 15-month tour. So you can prolly figure what unit I'm in.

I'd come to the rally, but prolly won't be back in the states on mid-tour til mid-sept.

Been on and off forums since 2000, so I'm used to flamers.

Welcome to the forum. Yes, it is us who must speak up about liberty, this is why the founders gave us the First Amendment.

No one is forcing you to be here so there is no tyranny. :)

You, sir, make me very proud. We are all rediscovering what it is to be an american.
Prehaps when you get back you can put your marksmen skills to work by training us through our appleseed project! http://www.appleseedinfo.org/
It about learning what it means to be an american. read up on our founders, emerse yourself in their writings.
The Cato institute has some great books on our founders and on the individual amendments to the constitution.
Feel free to contact me if you ever want to bounce your thoughts off of someone.

Awesome!!

Its always good to see a new face and have another mind working to fortify the movement. Also excuse me for being blunt, but in this movement, Vets are worth 100x their weight in gold. We're constantly accused by Neo Cons for being out of touch and misinformed about thats happening in the Middle East, so some one who has been there, seen it, done it, etc, provides us with more perspective, and also to be frank again, more legitimacy in the eyes of the opposition.

The economy is an excellent place to start! Especially since economic woes currently trump the war as issue number one this election season. Also, get yourself real familiar with The US Constitution, the Amendments, especially the 10 legitimate ones. The rest are bastardized amendments covered in the taint of special interests and ulterior motives, with few exceptions.

www.mises.org is a great place to start reading up on economics.

here is a great video that puts a bit of a point on the philosophy of liberty.

I wish you the best of luck in your studies.
