I'm new to the Revolution. It actually came around with me not paying attention. I discovered the Manifesto and Ron Paul via Amazon. I was looking for a book on the American Revolution, and saw this book. Heard the name Ron Paul before (although I can't remember where exactly) and decided to buy it. I didn't look at the product description until after I had bought it.
I used to hold some neo-con views. Through high school I had a history/government teacher who was a neo-con and pushed his ideas on us. Pretty much just trusted those ideas. He always promoted fox news over CNN and I was naive back then and trusted the media's opinion. I never had any interest in politics in the last 3 years because I failed to see how I could affect it/how it affected me.
I came over to Iraq last December, and it brings you to terms with a lot of things (and quickly). When you don't have the distractions of every day life like you have back in the States you start thinking a lot more.
I started questioning what I was taught to believe (my father always voted Republican because he assoicated them with lower taxes) and decided I wanted to look at what I believed in light of our Founding Fathers. And from there, I ended up getting the book (and also ordering The Revolution mini-series from the History channel [I know its not 100% accurate, but it will help me form a better picture])
Right now I want to develop what I believe, and be able to back up my beliefs. I'm going to start with economics and free market, then move on from there.
We are the last line of defense for America. If we don't speak up about the usurpation of Liberty who will?
