Sam Brinton, like many of the people quoted in this article, uses the pronouns they and them, and may be the first openly gender-fluid person in federal government leadership — as they noted on LinkedIn upon accepting the role.

"Yes, I know it won’t be easy. Yes, I realize this is an enormous challenge. Yes, I am ready to take it on," they wrote at the time.

The Department of Energy did not respond to Yahoo Life's request for comment.

Brinton’s years-long career in nuclear waste management, climate change, LGBTQ activism and youth mentorship — including stints at Global Zero, the Trevor Project and Deep Isolation, a company of researchers and scientists advancing safer methods for nuclear waste disposal — is well documented, as is their activism in kink subculture.

A graduate of MIT with dual masters degrees in nuclear engineering and technology and policy programming, Brinton has been unapologetic about their activism, as well as their life as a drag performer and as one of the loudest voices fighting to end conversion therapy as the founder of the 50 Bills 50 States campaign.

At least this one has a good technical background, unlike most of these freaks they are hiring now due to virtue signaling. I am pleased that it will at least be able to analyze data, even if it clearly has severe mental health issues.

I don't care what this person does in their private life. The problem here in my opinion is that they are bringing their personal life into their business. I think that is unprofessional and tacky. If this was a straight white middle age male appointed to a government position who advocated for being macho and bedding many women would that be positive news? I think not.

Official picture from Biden’s nominee for new Assistant Deputy Secretary of Wayward and Homeless Girls. He is extremely qualified.

Doesn't pretty much everybody do that? A devout Christian doesn't leave God home. A snazzy dresser wears snazzy clothing to work. A parent is still a parent at work. A righteous person brings their righteousness to work. A Libertarian doesn't leave their liberty at home.

They shouldn't. I didn't. When I was running a business, I had a strict policy of no political signs attire sickers or talk.I don't want to be bothered by Jesus or Transvestites when there is work to be done.

Who you fuck has never been an up-front social issue until recently.

Trumpeting who, or what you fuck as "part of your identity" in public while demanding not only acceptance but also respect is insane!

There are lines in polite society, most agree that sexual proclivities are personal issues not to be exhibited at work... What about the Butch lesbian who wants to wear her plastic horse-cock to work.....Is that acceptable? Should the public be aware when he/she/it gets a real horse-cock transplanted at public expense? Private expense?

Where would you draw the line?

"People" watch men in tights every Monday night through the fall and it's accepted, (football)... So do you accept that public "servants" with a 5-Oclock shadow in a dress are okay? Or would you shun them? What about the lesbian and her store-bought appendage? Is it okay for her to wear yoga pants to work in order to advertise? Should laws be enacted to protect such behavior?

Beliefs are one thing and in a polite society beliefs are respected without laws to mandate acceptance.

When a person believes things contrary to the norm and insists on displaying those beliefs publicly then cries for the protection of their public display under force of law there's bound to be trouble.

Discretion is the better part of valor. Or...... Keep it in your pants.
