Hey all,

I'm trying to organize an event with a major band and I think it would be especially useful to prove that while Ron Paul _IS_ Pro-Life, he also believes that the decision on whether or not to ban abortions is actually at the discretion of local and/or state governments.

Been looking for a good correlation statement either in debate or interview or print but haven't found one yet. Your aid would be much appreciated as this will possibly be a very large event down here in Atlanta.

Thanks in advance for your help.

In voting (reluctantly) in favor of a federal ban on partial-birth abortions, RP stated the following:

The best solution, of course, is not now available to us. That would be a Supreme Court that recognizes that for all criminal laws, the several states retain jurisdiction. Something that Congress can do is remove the issue from the jurisdiction of the lower federal courts, so that states can deal with the problems surrounding abortion, thus helping to reverse some of the impact of Roe v. Wade

In one of the 1st two debates, probably the Reagan Library debate, RP talked about how in Washington, on the issue of stem-cell research, the debate is between prohibiting it or subsidizing it. Never is the issue brought up on whether it's a federal responsibility.
