Movie Theatre Ads

I just had a great idea. Many movie theatres sell advertisements where they will show slides from local businesses before the movies start.

For example, there is a theatre near here that charges $75 plus $100 a month with a 3 month minimum. For this, you get a slide that is shown on screen for 5 seconds. It is mixed in with other ads and rotates every 3 or 4 minutes.

So for less than $400, people will be seeing your ad at least 2 or 3 times before every movie starts for the next 3 months. I think this would be a great way to get the word out and I just proposed it to my local meetup group on our site.

actually thats a great idea. How long of a spot do you get?

Here is what the website says:

Slide Advertising

CT8 offers on-screen advertising at reasonable rates. Everyone who comes to the movie will see your slide.

Each slide will appear on screen for 5 seconds and reappear every 3 - 4 minutes. The slides will be played 30 - 40 minutes before every movie on all 8 screens. We require a 3 month minimum for all new slides.

You Pay:
$75 one time set-up fee
$100 per month for every month your business is advertised.
Billed at the beginning of each month
3 month minimum required

Ok, where are all those people that have maxed out their donations to ron paul? this is something you can do to help the campaign... and its very innovative.
All we need to do is identify some already existing video promos for ron paul... find the right time length.
Contact the local theatre about advertising, buy the 3-4 month package...

That's better than an infomercial. You have a 'captive' audience that has nothing better to do but what the screen while waiting for their movie. brilliant.

Actually these are more slides than videos. I'm thinking a nice picture of Ron, brief summary of his positions, and the website address.

You want to make it short enough so people have time to read it. I'm going to see if I can get the local meetup group to put some funds together and buy 3 months.

yeah, i work at a movie theatre, and people come in like 40 mins to an hour before the showing starts, so thats alot of Ron Paul lol...

yuk. Unless it's opening night or I'm with like 10 friends I'm usually there about 13 minutes after listed time...just a few minutes before it starts. :D

Mitchell Theatres? I have never heard of them? Where are they located? Is this a very small mom and pop type of theatre chain?

Who is gonna take charge on this?

Yes, it is a small local company. I think they just run the theatre over in Newton. I just picked that one as an example because it is near where I live and I go to movies there occasionally. I brought the idea up with my meetup group and got some more info from the lady at the theatre. Hopefully I can convince a few other people to chip in so we can get this done. I'm hoping I can have something ready so we can start showing our ad in August.

This strategy can work with any theatre that runs on screen advertisements. Just call your local theatre and ask about it.

I know that many theaters do this. I don't have contact details. Just check with your local theaters and see what can be done.

This is a good idea.

We used these at my place of employment, and they actually brought in a lot of business.

Why not buy these ads in Iowa movie theaters? I think blanketing IA and NH with ads would be more helpful at this time than a smattering of ads across the country.

It's a wonderful idea, though, wherever it is done!
