More people registered as Independents, than Democrats or Republicans!

Sadly, that doesn't help us much in closed primary states.
 
It could be a trend with positive implications if it didn't mean that those people are shut out of the nominating process and those who aren't become comparatively more powerful since they can now choose candidates whose views are further out of the mainstream.

Proper voting reform, especially if it can make the primary system irrelevant, would only cement America's move away from party politics while also making it viable to not be a registered partisan. This should definitely be an issue Paul starts raising.
 
Considering Independent votes don't count in some states (CA), that's not necessarily a good thing for this election.
