Since there's already a thread on Louisiana, this thread is for MAINE. The Maine caucuses will be held on February 1st-3rd, 3 days after the Florida primary. The Maine contest will be the last contest before Feb. 5, Super Tuesday. A "surprise win" in Maine could garner us some much needed media attention right before Super Tuesday.

According to the campaign:

The delegate process is absolutely vital in Maine. If we have enough active, engaged Ron Paul supporters in Maine who are ready and willing to step up and become delegates in their area, we will win Maine. It's that simple.

If we get enough people willing to be active and become delegates, we will win Maine just as we could have won Nevada with more active supporters.

ACTION:
Please spread the message far and wide!!!

so, do you think that perhaps we can coordinate some resources, ad wise to maine?

for instance..

Some ads in the newspapers?

Can we get a "operation Maine" head of operations on board...

Are the rules similar to Iowa and Nevada?

Not like Iowa. More like Nevada. Which means, low turnout (like Nevada)... and whoever has the most people wanting to become a delegate (like Nevada) wins.

Basically a 2nd Nevada. We can win!!! If we get boots on the ground.

anyone have the phone list? Someone else was here earlier in the month looking for one. Some quick phone calls could get us some delegates quickly.

Can you explain the rules exactly. Is there a % threshold?

Could a huge infusion of money actually help? How is he polling now? Who is competing there? What specifically can we do?

i like your thinking - i agree, a good showing in maine could definately boost things for the 5th.

Ron Paul will do well in Maine. Look at the State's voting history, we always go for the guy out of the mainstream.

Yes, Maine is very independent... I think we need a win to shut the pundits up.

"He'll never win a state."

454 Meetup members in Maine. If each grabs a few friends/family and actively caucuses we should be good to go. We need to frantically start contacting Maine residents VIA Facebook, Myspace & Meetup.

Some do NOT read the Meetup e-mails, so we need to individually contact all of them. If we make this go viral, make a big deal out of it, we will do much better than if we sit back and....watch.

The camapaign just opened an office in Portland and the state camapign is being run by two former state legislators. A couple of visits by Ron and I think we can do well.

A well-placed tv ad or two, and a helping of grassroots print ads, and we're in good shape.

SteveMartin is a meetup organizer in Maine. What is your meetup doing for GOTV, Steve? Have you gotten members to become precinct captains?
