Kinky Friedman Endorses Ron Paul

Writes Marc Emery: "A few hours ago, Texas gubernatorial candidate last year (13% of the vote in a four way race, Pery-39%, Bell-30%, Strayhorne-18%) Kinky Friedman endorsed Ron Paul. Thats two days in a row (yesterday Cafferty's wonderful endorsement and Blitzer's interview with Ron) that Ron has been on the Situation Room. Friedman is a popular author and iconoclast, and for 30 years has had a popular band called Kinky Friedman and the Texas Jewboys. Kinky is a self-described 'Jewish cowboy' with a trademark cowboy hat and cigar."

Is Jesse Ventura someone whose opinion is respcted? I ask taht in all sincerity b/c I know very little of except he is a wrassler tuned Govenator...

yes. jesse ventura won a gubernatorial race with very little money.

he is very well respected, independent minded politician.

If we have Kinky's endorsement, we need to get Mojo Nixon's next. Last I heard he had a Sirrus radio show with a loyal following.
If you've never heard Mojo before, be sure to evacuate any kids or other sensitive folks from the immediate area before listening. You can get many of his live concert bootlegs free online (with his consent) at:

You Can't Kill Me would be the first song I'd recommend listening too :D

edit: lol, just hit http://www.mojonixon.com/ and You Can't Kill Me is the background music for his webpage.

he also exposed the comprehensive annual financial report (aka the gov't 2nd set of books for those who don't know) and i believe thats why he didn't run a 2nd time. i believe he was threatened to shut up about it.

Among people who lived in Minnesota during Jesse's term, myself included, he is not well respected at all. When he left, budget deficits were out of control, there were confirmed reports of disgraceful activities taking place in the governor's mansion (before it was closed altogether), and his office had lost nearly all respect due to his crude behavior his last year.

Ventura may share our love of independence, but he doesn't share our sense of personal responsibility.

mansion closed, why?

Heres a pretty good video of Jesse Ventura beating Donnie "Douche"'s ass on the Iraq war topic.

I dont think he would ever support anyone that has the Republican name attached to them though. Hes very strict on that I hear.

Donny Deutsch? Yeah, he's the most pompous, self-centered ass in the advertising world by a long shot. Calling him Donny "Douche" is really too good for him.

Another possibility: Elvis Costello.

I went to see him in concert last night on a double bill with Bob Dylan :D and he introduced a song saying (something like): "This song is a about a war widow who starts to question what she is being told by her government. Some people call that treason. I call it patriotism." to great applause.

So, who here is a friend of a friend of a friend of Elvis? :)
