They have already raised near 14 million dollars, and now they are complaining that the tea party bomb is going to come too late?

How the hell did they spend the 14 million raised already, and how are they in DIRE need of more immediately?

I am really lost and confused on this one.

We're talking about the incompetence of the campaign in the Dec. 16 fundraising forum

My personal take on this: If you have already set a goal of giving x dollars on the Tea Party, and they ask for a donation now, if you give you are STILL going to have a psychological investment to do x dollars on the TeaParty.

Not that I am trying to derail what they are trying to do, I am just saying they are doing what a good fundraiser does, and that is raise the maximum amount of cash that they can.

As posted in the 10 or so other threads regarding this...

$5.3 Million on hand at end of Quarter + $2.8 Million in October raised = $8.1 Million on hand

$8.1 Million on hand - $3.1 Million spent in October = $5 Million on hand at beginning of November.

$5 Million on hand + $6 Million approx. raised in November so far = $11 Million on hand.

So my question is, why are they acting like they are broke?

How I Understand It

The email letter that came out today is saying that they need the money spent in the next couple of weeks in order to snag the space for the December ads. Placing the ads needs advance notice and full payment. I'm torn because the legitimacy of the campaign and of Ron Paul and his supporters will grow again exponentially with a HUGE day on December 16th. But they're saying they need the money now. I'm making the decision to wait for December 16th for my last big donation. The campaign can use credit cards to secure the ads now and pay for them when the money rolls in the day of the Tea Party 07.

I think what it means is that their radio and television ads are not producing the polling number increases they had hoped.

So now they are projecting that they will need to spend much more money in the 4 early states than previously expected.

Remember, if we don't win at least one of those early states or do very well in a majority of them, we have no chance of winning the nomination and the money will be a waste.

We always said that the campaign would tell us if they needed the money sooner, and now they have.

No the campaign is spot on. We are only at 8% in New Hampshire. We need to spend a lot more to get us to 15%. In my eyes we are behind.

Look, Dec. 16 will happen regardless because it something the Grassroots has done itself. They have no control over it nor can they.

What they're concerned about is people holding back on donations until then. People here have noticed contributions falling off.

So give the nation camapaign $25 to $50 until then to keep up the pace.

I was going to give $500 for the money bomb, but I will compromise with the official campaign and the grass roots. I'll give $100 per payday until the end of December and $100 on the Tea Party. That will be $500 total.

I might do the same thing. Maybe I'll do half and half.

"WE" are the grassroots. "WE" are NOT the campaign nor are we affiliated with it. If the official campaign (who is in charge of the mechanics that further Dr Pauls election) has announced that it needs the money to bombard the first primary states so he will be on the ballot. Then why argue with that? Is it stealing thunder away from your event?

You're throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

I suspect the campaign is making huge ad buys in the early primary states and political advertising must be paid for when placed.

First in gets best placement as well. Hence the request for more donations.

Heck they might have spent $5,000,000 or more today.

I did my bit and sent in some cash on the request.

Think about it, people. They have to buy ads in advance. Usually at least a week, maybe two ahead of time. Dec 16th is only about TWO WEEKS before the Iowa caucus! Which means if they get the money on the 16th, they'd be able to have ads running right about the DAY OF THE CAUCUS! People, that is TOO LATE! People are going to start making up their minds in the weeks before the caucus. Even disregarding how the campaign has spent the money they already have, the point is, what good does it do to give them a huge wad of cash that it is too late for them to usefully spend?

The Tea Party is NOW!

Oh, and don't forget, Huckabee's money bomb is today, so how awesome would it be for us to eclipse his pre-planned money bomb by a spontaenous effort on our part?

The people we are up against have money to spend that makes ours look like chump change. Just because "millions" is a lot to you and me doesn't mean it's a lot in the campaign world. It will be supremely ironic if this campaign's "Dean scream" turns out to be the Tea Party because people held back giving because they thought they knew best.

I have seen another issue raised on several threads along the lines of "Why can't Dr. Paul just take out a bank loan to run the campaign to December 16th?"

The question that doesn't get asked is "Would the banking system loan money to someone who is a supporter or sound money, and has vowed to terminate the Federal Reserve?"

I would like to suggest that there is no way that any bank is going to be allowed to fund the campaign of a candidate who intends to put a stop to their fraudulent practices.
