Is a Baretta Cheetah a good gun for home?

Would this gun be good for home protection?

I also have a shotgun.

All I hear is "9mm" this or that.. for a handgun, but does a .22 have a place for home protection? Is the cheetah good or ?

I've got a .22 Baretta and I find it easy to shoot (ie. I'm very accurate with it and I target practice maybe once every ten years).

If your going for home protection just spend 2-50 bucks on a Mossberg Maverick 88 with the 18.5 inch barrel. You simply can't get a better bang for the buck. They are very simple, won't break, and you can get a lot of accessories for them too.

For instance when these were still 250 bucks I picked up this kit (only with the 6 round magazine unfortunately, and the canceled production right after so I can't get any more).

Gunbroker still has people selling some of the 10 rounders for 650 but for that price I would just get a Saiga 12 which will be my next shotgun.

These things are a bit heavy with these kits but with the front grip recoil isn't bad at all.

Anyways, though thats a bit off topic, if your looking for home protection just get a mossberg maverick 88 and be done with it. Maybe change it to a pistol grip for the house.

My understanding is that a .22 will probably poke some little holes in an intruder. Lethal, yes. They might bleed to death in a few minutes.

What are they doing in the meantime? Not trying to kill you, I hope. For that reason, I personally would not use a .22 for home defense.

You probably hear 9mm a lot because it's a common caliber, generally thought to be just big enough to do the job, and is less likely to go through walls than bigger calibers. I'm not sure about that last one, but you can probably find out at theboxotruth.com.

There is the problem in RED with using a small caliber gun (UNLESS ITS A HEAD SHOT). Since you already have a shotgun have fun plinking with the .22 and use the shotgun for home protection.

For home defence a shotgun can't be beat. Very little aiming, far less chance of colateral damage. Nothing scares more than the sound of a shotgun round being chambered.

in all honestly why Baretta made the Cheetah was NOT to be used as nightstand defensive gun. Its a mouse gun....a carry gun and/or back up carry gun. Not as a primary handgun for the house.

For home protection I prefer a weapon that shoots through doors.

Load up with "slugs." Sometimes called "solids."
