'Twas listening to a repeat on Ron Paul Revolution Radio, interview was with Greg Lewis (http://www.greglewisforcongress.com/), stated that the Pope will be in town, and within earshot on the day of the march.

We should invite the Pope!

Think of the coverage!

Possibly pick up an endorsement?

no that i agree with the pope being there because i feel that would turn the march into something else...but you do have a point on the media coverage part.

Yes.... on ONE condition..

Ron Paul rides in the pope mobile instead of him! He needs it more anywayz.

Let's face it.. Ron Paul is doing more to make this world a place than he ever has...
Yep - anyone want to argue with that statement? lol :D

The Pope won't be at the rally, but I think the campaign should make every effort to arrange a meeting between Ron Paul and the Pope. The two of them agree on most political issues, and Benedict XVI is the highest-profile libertarian-minded person in the world. It could only help.

I have hard time believing this. Catholic church is very hierarchical and tightly controls all the policies throughout compared to other churches, so they're anything but libertarian.

I think it's an excellent idea. And as for the first replier, I don't think it'll turn into 'anything else,' or 'offensive' in any way. And that's coming from a conservative Jew ;) I think it would be great if the Pope would come. If he's a true libertarian as someone said, then he obviously believes in liberty, and would surely at least consider coming.

The Catholic church is a PRIVATE organization. Libertarians believe in the rights of private organizations to set their own rules and policies, as long as they don't use force to make people who don't want to participate follow those rules. No one is being forced to become a Catholic against their will; anyone who follows the strict policies of the Catholic church is doing it voluntarily.

I am a Catholic that has never seen the Pope or Ron Paul in person, that would be awesome if the Pope came to the march.

no...i didn't mean it would turn into something offensive. let me clarify: who in the hell is even going to get the point of the rally if the pope shows up? i'm sorry but I don't even see what the big deal is about the pope. i'm a former catholic now free of man made religion...but i still don't get it. i would rather it not turn into pope day. sure we'd get a great turnout...but it sure wouldn't be because of the rally. on the other hand it's a great way to spread the message to new ppl. so yeah...i always see 2 sides to everything....but; just say no to pope day. that's all.:)

I think it's a kickass idea and Im emailing the Pope right now to consider meeting with Dr. Paul. Im not even a tiny bit religious but good LORD if there was ever an opportunity for RP to get news coverage as the ANTI-WAR candidate, meeting with the Pope no less, then this is it!

Not to burst your bubble... but the Pope is NOT going to endorse a candidate for President. Especially not Ron Paul. The Pope will also not go to the rally. You guys have really really lost it.

No Bubble

Have no bubble to burst...

If he will be within earshot, why not invite?

What is it I have lost?

It's worth a try, but the Vatican has stayed out of secular government elections for the past 150 years. I don't foresee a sudden change of policy now. I do think the Pope might be willing to meet with Dr. Paul privately though, and even that could generate good press.
