I'm down to two choices...

Well, actually only one. I can't write Ron Paul in on the ballot in Arizona and the deadline to get Chuck Baldwin on the ballot here has passed. As most of you know I will never vote for McCain or Obama. That leaves me two choices...Bob Barr or don't vote. Since I want to register a complaint that actually gets counted I only have one choice. I'm certainly not going to be a Bob Barr cheerleader but the way it stands now Bob Barr has my vote. You can start tearing me apart now :D

Well Barr isn't like protectionist like Chuck Baldwin, so it's a wise choice.

I think that's a good choice, actually. I think if the 3rd parties have a much stronger turnout, that might send a strong message ...?

As long as you vote your conscience based on a fair and intelligent examination of your choices, thats all the freedom movement could ask for.

Show up with a permanent marker and write-in Ron Paul, whatever that entails.

Wost-case scenario: You deface a Diebold.

Staying at home - no message. When people look at a 50% voter turnout, they don't say "People are upset at our choices, so they stay home." Instead, they say "People are lazy pigs, they don't vote."

Voting for Barr, even if he doesn't win - spreads the message. There's no way that a vote for Barr can be interpreted as anything other than a "protest" vote, or a vote against McCain and Obama. We may even be able to drag them both down under 50% of the popular vote, robbing them of a "mandate" (I never fully understand the point behind it, but whatever...)

And accomplish what?

Write-ins here aren't even counted unless they have a reasonable chance of changing the outcome (in other words, 50% of the votes have to be write-ins to worry about counting any of them).

It does no more good than staying at home, IMO.

You have a while to decide yet, and will, obviously, be making a more informed decision than most. We all respect that.

Another option for you--obviously I've got a candidate I can vote FOR so not advocating it, but more choices are better than fewer ones: you could vote for other offices but not president as a vote for "none of the above" which was going to be my approach last time until I became happy with the Nader choice.

Barr is a joke and an embarassment to libertarianism. You're better off not voting.

What does the LP have to do with libertarianism? May be founded on it, but you don't have to adhere to libertarianism in order to be a Libertarian. That's like saying all Democrats should adhere to the Communist Manifesto haha

from the words of Wayne Allyn Root (L) VP nominee: BANG!

I would have to say vote Bob Barr or Ralph Nader just so you show a protest vote. Neither will win the election, but it should be very important for the Ron Paul Revolution to vote 3rd party (no matter who you choose) this year out of protest of the 2 party system. It should be our goal to get a 10% majority of the 3rd parties. It'd be awesome and amazing with big success.

If you can explain in how not voting could in any concievable way help the cause of liberty, consider it. Otherwise, vote for Barr. He would be the best president we've had in a century, though not perfect.

Ooh, nasty little smear.... is he an "isolationist" too?

This is an excellent observation. It seems the Barr faction among the Revolution have learned a great deal from the MSM.

I was unsatisfied with both choices but the behavior of some here are certainly swaying me in the opposite direction that they intend.

Yes, I believe the True Colors of the Barr campaign (and some "Libertarian" nastiness) are sadly already showing through. The "Libertarian" party is -- in a fashion almost worse than merely that they are a minor party -- frequently dismissed as a "sideshow/freakshow" by MSM for a whole host of reasons, platforms, issues, and attitudes... some of the ad hominem tendencies may be a knee-jerk compensation or defense mechanism... a "and junior kicks the cat" mentality if you will.

Baldwin is certainly not "perfect," and I do not claim to be in agreement with him on everything (I'm not 100% with RP either) -- but at a minimum the emphasis will be on urging people back to look back the CONSTITUTION itself as the best form of constraint on the government -- even if it were only via the party's name... but I believe the platform is pretty solid as well, the candidate himself is of good character, and I see his lack of previous experience as a politician or officeholder as a plus. (Finally, I can vote AND campaign for him ...and still sleep well at night.)

BTW, for the roots of the Barr campaign folks and why I believe we have even MORE in store from them on that front... (and somehow I don't think its going to be what people want or expect): http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?t=140209
