Lets take over the fed.. Own it outright just like fannie mae and freddie mac...

The bankers will never go for it, because then we the people would get something of value and actually make a profit on it.....

So much for the people who still argue we will make a profit on this.

Humbug

not a bad idea.. even the average person would like the sound of that.. and then be like "wait we don't own it?"

I never thought about that.. You're right. They would be like WTF.. The same thing they do when they see the red and green dollar bills...

Do you think its too late to try and push this angle to our congressmen?

The only Fed bank I want to own is a dead one.
(and by dead I mean deceased operators, in their graves)

they don't even understand what the Fed is. Most of them think we already do own it. Unless you can get everyone to read The Creature From Jekyll Island in the next 24 hours, we are screwed.

I've called and called and called.

Not a bad compromise. The economy is a mess, take over the 'company' that caused it all.

while I don't like Greenspan, I agree with him on the necessity of the Fed if we don't have a gold-standard (or we don't have competing currencies).

If Congress issued the currency (which, they likely wouldn't have interest on it, though I could be wrong), it's very likely they'd throw the nation into a hyper-inflationary spiral (and you though the Fed was bad!)

I'd say we should just abolish it outright.

Step two would fulfill itself after we the people inflate our currency to the outer edges of human comprehension. The fed is a flawed system no matter who is in charge inflation will be the policy. Fractional reserve banking is fraudulent no matter who is in charge of it.
