Hannity Freedom Concert

So, yesterday there was the Hannity Freedom Concert in San Diego. There were probably 10-20,000 people there. Seemed like the solid GOP base Fox watching ones. All the traffic had to come in through two entrances so there were three lanes of bumper to bumper traffic that went really slow. I was going to make a YouTube but my video camera battery was dead. So sorry guys.

We had a good showing from the local Ron Paul Meetup group with banners, cards and slim jims. There were a lot of people who had never heard of Ron Paul.

I only gave a business card or slim jim to people who asked for it. Many seemed genuinely interested. I probably gave out 1,000 pieces of literature easy. I did not keep count.

A lot of people would ask 'Who is Ron Paul?' and I would respond 'The Thomas Jefferson of our age.' There will be a lot of people researching Ron Paul from the 'privacy' of their Internet connection. Then they will talk to their sphere of influence about it. This grassroots movement is spreading like wildfire. I think the reason people are fed up with 'politics' is because we've had so much 'crap' at the buffet for so long. This is changing and I can see this happening with a bunch of the people I gave literature to. Freedom Is Popular!

There was one guy in a taxi and I asked him if he wanted something and he said 'I just want to get into the concert.' So I responded, 'Well, I hope you enjoy it.' and then he asked me for some literature. So, remember to be courteous.

I was really surprised because we had so much fun doing this. It was the first time several of us had ever done something like that. Then we went and had pizza afterwards. Anyway, get out there and make your presence felt!

The usual hostile responses were from drunk people. I think a lot of the GOP base is pissed at the GOP.

Have a sign with good name recognition. The slim jims are great.

Have some witty comebacks for questions people may ask. Also, try to smile a lot and have a good time. The passion and truth will shine through.

Sometimes they would ask 'Is he a Republican?' I would respond, 'Yes, a real one like Thomas Jefferson!'

Also, if you can throw a compliment in. Sometimes I would say 'Hey, nice car. It looks like you actually pay taxes. Ron Paul wants to seriously cut them.'

For example, a group of greyheads made a comment about 'Well, I don't like Ron Paul because I support the troops.' So I responded, 'Then why are we sending my 5 cousins to get shot at if we support them so much?'

If someone slings a hostile barb at me I respond in kind with a biting truthful comment. Having a few short retorts to prick their conscience with the absurdities may be helpful. Of course, be polite but remember that words will always retain their power so craft them carefully and pointedly if you need to.
