GOP Party Platform is unanimous support for Trump without details

The GOP seem to be scrapping the 2016 platform because it attacks the 'administration', without actually officially being able to scrap it.

They then go on to state

WHEREAS, The RNC, had the Platform Committee been able to convene in 2020,would have undoubtedly unanimously agreed to reassert the Party’s strong support for President Donald Trump and his Administration

No official policies other than unanimous support for Trump. Has there ever been an example of such cult of personality in a major US political party? How is this different from how dictator lead countries act - forget the ideals of a national party, just agree with the boss 100%?

The first time I saw every cabinet secretary give so many platitudes to Trump was very banana republic feeling, this is a whole new level of incredulity.
