The way they see it, they get one too. Hell, lets just have state owned everything while we're at it.

It was only a matter of time, unfortunately. And now that Michigan is an election-year swing state and Detroit's auto makers are posting sales declines topping 20% each month, the time has arrived. The issue of a government bailout for General Motors, Ford and Chrysler is moving to center stage.

Barack Obama has said yes to this proposal early on, and last week John McCain climbed on board. So much for change and fighting pork-barrel spending.

Well, considering the fat cats are having everything made outside of this country, I can see why the last few who are attempting to build anything here are looking for help. The fat cats always make their money and have what they want at the expense of our country.

I'm still trying to find something made in this country that doesn't have parts in it made in some other country. I have to laugh when somebody says, "I have a Harley Davidson because I wanted to buy something made in this country." If they only look at the parts on their bike, they would see it says on them "Made in Japan". Harley only puts them together.

Are we going to have any manufacturing plants left in this country or are we just going to have assembly pants?

It won't be long and even the assembly plants won't be around anymore.

Since all of the other socialist countries have government assisted manufacturing plants, I guess the United States of Socialist America can too.

They are losing because they refuse to make small efficient cars in the USA. Toyota and others are building plants in the US to take up the slack.

They should go down, because they are incredibly poorly run companies.

Toyota's sales have gone down 9% in the last quarter, but Ford's are down 27%.

Our future is in technology...and its application. Often with technology you make something out of nothing (as far as media) very little raw materials needed.

UAV's and robotics are the answer financially for bases, deployment and finances.

Car companies were given 25 Billion last year. This bailout is estimated to cost 2.5 TRILLION.... TRILLION WITH A T..... NO ONE IS ASKING QUESTIONS.... What's worst next years budget is already looking like a Trillion dollar deficit.

Also in line with a hand out is the air line industry.

send em packing!

Who are this bigots ragging on manufacturing?

Go write some more snivelling commentry on the achievements of others in your mighty ivory tower that was never manufactured and has always been.

I think it was said that Ford wanted to move...to Mexico. Sounds like they are the bigots.

American automakers are inefficient, Japanese are efficient. Not difficult to figure out who would have trouble in the free market. That does NOT prompt the government to bail them out, it SHOULD prompt the government to allow efficiency to prevail, in our country. The truth is, Japan is a free market and they manage to get by just fine with private insurance. Our country is dealing with compounded issues that will not go away because the government is giving the wrong diagnosis, and it hurts the employees most. I'm sure the CEOs will have several yachts and mansions when its all said and done, by then they will probably be out of this tanked country anyway.

It was once possible to maintain leverage over the socialists, but this 2 party system is driving us too deep for recovery; their actions show that they do NOT have a desire to balance the budget and thus introduce us to full-blown socialism.
