Feb, 2007 - Michael Scheuer says ACLU denigrating America

No, he was right.

The ACLU was started by Commies. Yes, every once in awhile they get something right, but they do more bad, than good.

I would say it's closer to 50/50

and I had an amazing conversation with an ACLU rep at my university a few weeks ago about how much he loved Ron Paul and how he is a part of the section of the ACLU that is pressing very hard in fighting the renewal of the patriot act.

And when it came to protecting the 2A from various infringements, the ACLU was

(A) Fighting to protect the RKBA
(B) Nowhere to be seen
(C) Actively working to take this right out of the Constitution
(D) What is a 2A?

I don't like what most of the ACLU does...they seem to be an organization that endorses reverse discrimination, doesn't understand federalism, and is just a vehicle for Marxists and greenies. Not saying they always get it wrong, but......

QFT. It is a front organization. Their aim is to tear down traditional society so it can be replaced by their egalitarian utopia.

I don't know what you guys are talking about, but what I do know is that the ACLU has been challenging Obama on civil liberties more than any other organization. I think they are one of the most important organizations in the country right now.

The ACLU is good on privacy and drugs, but bad on business and pretty much everything else.

The AClU has slowed down the progress of a police state more than anyone else, yet people here are attacking them. It's incredible, and yes they have been extremely critical of OBAMA's policies, and are challenging him on wiretapping, Gitmo, torture, etc. Micael Scheur is about the furthest guy away from a civil libertarian I can think of, so it is amazing that some of you can't seperate the wheat from the chaff of what Scheur is about. Micahel Scheur started the extraordianary rendition program which is a hideous, barbaric policy that makes this country less safe. Gitmo is a red herring, extraordinary rendition is the real evil that the whole world hates America for.

I think that is true. I've always said that I'll support the ACLU when it observes all civil liberties as paramount to the security and well-being of our nation, including the right to bear arms (which is as much a natural right as the protection from illegal searches and seizures).

Still, though, it does not make me cringe when they do accidentally get something right. I'm not against all things ACLU.

My biggest problem with the organization in general is that it occasionally perpetuates racism in this country. If they'd tell people like Al Sharpton to f-off from time to time, it might do 'em some good.

EDIT: Then again, there was that time the ACLU teamed up with gun-rights activists against the REAL ID. Talk about a cold day in hell.

So I have seen exactly nothing here that would indicate the ACLU is a bad thing. Please come up with logical arguments against them.

“The ACLU may be definitely classified as a Communist front or transmission belt organization. At least 90 percent of its efforts are on behalf of Communists who come in conflict with the law.” California Senate Fact Finding Committee on Un-American Activities, 1948 report

Personally I don't like any racist organizations, including the ACLU.

The ACLU has accelerated the social engineering plan which has ushered in this police state. They have been used as the meat tenderizer for the entire population.

I hate being wrong, but I just realized how much they suck on the 2nd amendment. From their website, "The ACLU interprets the Second Amendment as a collective right. Therefore, we disagree with the Supreme Court’s decision in D.C. v. Heller" blah blah Yuck.

This is an extremely anti civil liberties position to take, and make them hypocrites. I retract most of what I said because the 2nd amendment is the foundation all other rights fall upon. My conspiracy radar usually goes up when I see such utter bullshit mixed in with truth.

There is no room for interpretation with the 2nd amendment, and in no way is the bill of rights collective. Any honest person of history knows that the bill of rights are to protect the individual.

I always thought they were weak on the 2nd amendment, but the way they worded this sounds like Karl Marx and makes me wonder what they truly are about.

Both correct observations. The ACLU is kinda like Code Pink. Both are against violations of civil rights and war, that is, as long as those perpetuating it are of a particular political persuasion they disagree with.

"Traditional society?" You mean the society of bigots, wars, superstition, and oppression on a staggering scale?

Yeah, no thanks....

Yes, that is a lot of what society is, but it is an organic one for the most part that has evolved and has the ability to further evolve. The ACLU wishes to tear it down with the power of the state, through legislation that categorizes people into groups and gives legal license to people through state grant rather than letting "society" work through mores and taboos. Big difference Chuck.
