Do you nap?

I read an article in the newspaper that said napping is better for you than a good nights sleep.

The author pointed out that a number of sports stars choose to have a nap here and there instead of sleeping at night, especially in the afternoons when they're free after training. He said it can make you more alert and improve performance etc.

The Spanish are famous for 'siesta's' and usually eat very late at night which i've always thought was odd..

So I'm wondering if anyone here has tried napping or changing their sleep routine for the better?

When possible I like to nap in the afternoon. Less than an hour generally leaves me with more energy in the evening. Anytime longer usually leaves me lethargic.

Have you tried caffeine? Coffee/energy drink?

I find this to be so true, 15 min or so is good, has always been for me.
A two hour nap is not 'recoverable' for me, I'll be stumbling around for the
rest of the day trying to wake up, so groggy, its' been many years since I
took one that long.

There is some kind of chemical release 0ccuring when we 'nod out' for even 2 seconds,
you can feel it.
A lot of times in the morning after being up for several hours
(I often start my day at 2 or 3am) I'll take advantage of a 2 or 3 min nap or less,
that's all I need to get a shot of stimulant release, head is cleared,
energy is right on , good to go..... then a 15 to 30 min nap later in the day.

I take a nap in the afternoon if I am not too busy . Usually about 30 minutes .
