Do we really want the feds overseeing how states run elections?

I've seen a lot of complaints of voter suppression or fraud or whatever and I've seen Trump supporters call for "federal action" against "voting violations" in states like PA for example. I think this is a dangerous idea. Let the states handle elections anyway they want. Remember, what goes around comes around. Giving the feds the power to "oversee" might sound good when it's your guy in charge but what happens when it's the other guy?

But to some extent it's a federal election (at least the federal appointments). The states should follow certain rules I should think.

The government is no longer bottom-up. It is top-down. So, whatever the Fed says, people will walk in lock-step.

Be careful what you ask for.

It reminds me of the 14th amendment that was supposed to protect the rights of citizens at the federal level. It sounded great but we got the ADA, the FDA, SS, Medicare, discrimination laws, hate crimes, etc, etc. Basically it gave the federal government the excuse to enforce any kind of fake right it can think of.

Exactly.

Plus, chips are right around the corner.

I'm veering of course but I'd love to ask liberals a question.

Since they act like the "right" to vote is pretty much the most important right anyone can possibly have, how about if instead of threatening innocent citizens with imprisonment or death for not paying their taxes, why not just take away their precious "right" to vote if they don't pay their taxes?

I am sitting here thinking how to convince them to abstain from voting, while not paying their taxes :D

Starve the State! End the Fed! :raisinghand:

Right here on this forum. It's not about Ron Paul's message at all anymore, it's all about supporting the thoroughly corrupt and rotten R team. The US has been totally divided and conquered. Thanks for the few posters like you that haven't capitulated.

Disgusting. We lost. This time. But we live to fight another day, with hopefully better leadership - and NO MORE JESSE BENTON CLOWNS

A Poem for Winston

Oranges and lemons,
Say the bells of St. Clement's.

You owe me five farthings,
Say the bells of St. Martin's.

When will you pay me?
Say the bells at Old Bailey.

When I grow rich,
Say the bells at Shoreditch.

When will that be?
Say the bells of Stepney.

I do not know,
Says the great bell at Bow.

Here comes a candle to light you to bed,
And here comes a chopper to chop off your head!
Chip chop chip chop the last man is dead

Would you prefer poo poo soup, or a doo doo sandwich?

Record turnout this year. SMDH

I don't think anything is going to change until we can no longer print and borrow. Price inflation will be the end game. Until then we're living in fantasy land where all we need to do is print our way to prosperity.

I'm actually rooting for Biden. The debt time bomb is almost certainly going to go off in the next 4 years and I'd rather have a democrat and socialism take the blame.

Yeah, I thought the same after I posted that. I guess things have to get much, much worse before they get......... even way worse yet.

TPTB know exactly what they are doing, and the people still have not a single clue :sorrow:

No. As long as states can meet the deadlines established for them by the feds, they should generally be free to run their own elections within the limits of the constitution.

I read somewhere that Biden was putting together a "task force" on making elections more "transparent".

Is that what you were hoping for?

The Libertarian Party Platform fully supports the government authority to prevent FORCE OR FRAUD to be used against us.

That is specially true in this case where the GD Biden Administration believes that he has a MANDATE to force us to wear face masks. to compel social distancing, overrule my right to bear arms. tanks the economy , ad nauseam

.

Just because the federal government sucks doesn't mean that there shouldn't be shared rules and standards between the states when voting on federal elections. For example, California were to officially allow illegal aliens to vote, they would disenfranchise the vote of lawful U.S. citizens.
