Did the Congressional hearings finally expose the scandal of the Ivy League?

ANDREW SULLIVAN
DEC 8, 2023

It may be too much to expect that the Congressional hearings this week, starring the three presidents of Harvard, MIT, and Penn, will wake people up to the toxic collapse of America’s once-great Ivy League. But I can hope, can’t I? In the immortal words of Hitch (peace be upon him), as you listen to these people, “You see how far the termites have spread, and how long and well they have dined.”

The mediocrities smirked, finessed, condescended, and stonewalled. Take a good look at them. These are the people who now select our elites. And they select them, as they select every single member of the faculty, and every student, by actively discriminating against members of certain “privileged” groups and aggressively favoring other “marginalized” ones. They were themselves appointed in exactly the same way, from DEI-approved pools of candidates. As a Harvard dean, Claudine Gay’s top priority was “making more progress on diversity,” i.e. intensifying the already systemic race, sex and gender discrimination that defines the place.

Thanks to the recent Supreme Court case, the energetic discrimination against Asian-American candidates for admission at Harvard is no longer in doubt. But countless other candidates for admission have little to no chance, regardless of their grades, or extracurriculars, because they belong to the wrong race, sex, sexual orientation, and “gender identity.” As soon as students are admitted under this identity framework, they are taught its core precepts: that the “truth” — or, in Harvard’s now-ironic motto, “Veritas” — is a function not of logic or reason or of open, free, robust debate and dialogue, let alone of Western civilization, but of inimical and evil “power structures” rooted in identity that need to be dismantled first. Identity first; truth second — because truth is rooted in identity and cannot exist outside of it.

In the hearings, President Gay actually said, with a straight face, that “we embrace a commitment to free expression even of views that are objectionable, offensive, hateful.” This is the president whose university mandates all students attend a Title IX training session where they are told that “fatphobia” and “cisheterosexism” are forms of “violence,” and that “using the wrong pronouns” constitutes “abuse.” This is the same president who engineered the ouster of a law professor, Ronald Sullivan, simply because he represented a client, of whom Gay and students (rightly but irrelevantly) disapproved, Harvey Weinstein.

This is the same president who watched a brilliant and popular professor, Carole Hooven, be effectively hounded out of her position after a public shaming campaign by one of her department’s DEI enforcers, and a mob of teaching fellows, because Hooven dared to state on television that biological sex is binary. This is the president of a university where a grand total of 1.46 percent of faculty call themselves “conservative” and 82 percent call themselves “liberal” or “very liberal.” This is the president of a university which ranked 248th out of 248 colleges this year on free speech (and Penn was the 247th), according to the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression. Harvard is a place where free expression goes to die.

Wow, even Fareed Zakaria gets it!!

IDK. All I see is hypocrisy from just about every corner. And pseudo intellectual sermons from establishment mouthpieces like Zakaria are the height of hypocrisy. It’s all about whose ox is being gored. Wrapping it up as some grand revelation is just theater. They’ll turn on a dime to whatever they believe benefits them at the moment.

On this episode of Part Of The Problem, Dave and Robbie take a look at the recent hearing with heads of Ivy League colleges on anti-Semitism. Dave and Robbie then discuss the return of Alex Jones to Twitter!

It's amazing and incredible that her plagiarism lay completely undiscovered until she did not properly virtue signal to the Israel lobby.

Ick! What bullshit!

This clip/meme isn’t a revelation - it’s just insulting!

These exact same tables were turned over and over again to illustrate the perversity behind all the very popular anti-white hatred we’ve witnessed over the last decades. The meme of “imagine if we switch out the group to make it about blacks or jews!” has been done thousands of times and there wasn’t the tiniest bit of acknowledgement of this hatred from "jews" or any of the massively-funded groups who are so outraged on behalf of jews right now!

Here’s what people like Sia Kordestani (WhoTF is that?) are really saying:
First they came for the caucasians and I said nothing, because I prefer to fudge my identity by pretending my jewishness overrides my clear ‘whiteness’, which forever absolves me from any un-nice behavior I may, or may not, be guilty of… So why would I care about right and wrong on behalf of ‘white people’?!!

Then they came for me, but there were no empathetic, thoughtful, caring souls left to give much of a shit, because even though white people are the group who have typically stood up for me, welcomed me, protected me, given me refuge, and aided me in my times of need - I refuse to acknowledge this. I remain unappreciative and am unwilling to stand up for 'white people' as they are accused and blamed for every problem known to mankind - whereby now their own culture is freely despised and their power to affect positive change has come to be greatly diminished.

ONLY NOW, now that the focus is forced onto politically useful “jews”, are we seeing powerful, heavily funded organizations coming forward, looking for ways to strong-arm those who push that same hate in an additional direction! It was just as obscenely hateful when it was focused on 'white people'!

Until I see these large heavily financed, groups/orgs, politicians and the bulk of newly indignant jews, admit to their unconscionable indifference to the same exact hatred they now cry over - well, fuck you! Just fuck you!

My posting of the video was not an endorsement of the people who made the video or the person posting the video on Twitter. They may very well be hypocrites, IDK. I was more interested and amused by the use of AI to make an old point that has been made many times in the past.

I understand. Just outraged over the hypocrits refusal to acknowledge reality. They only care when the attacks are aimed at them - otherwise, rampant hatred is fine.

Embattled Harvard University President Claudine Gay announced her resignation on Tuesday amid accusations of plagiarism and controversy over her testimony before Congress last month.

"It is with a heavy heart but a deep love for Harvard that I write to share that I will be stepping down as president," she said in a lengthy letter to the school community. "This is not a decision I came to easily. Indeed, it has been difficult beyond words because I have looked forward to working with so many of you to advance the commitment to academic excellence that has propelled this great university across centuries."

"But, after consultation with members of the Corporation, it has become clear that it is in the best interests of Harvard for me to resign so that our community can navigate this moment of extraordinary challenge with a focus on the institution rather than any individual," the statement continued.

The news was first reported by The Harvard Crimson.

"It has been distressing to have doubt cast on my commitments to confronting hate and to upholding scholarly rigor -- two bedrock values that are fundamental to who I am -- and frightening to be subjected to personal attacks and threats fueled by racial animus," Gay wrote in her resignation letter. <Had to get that race card out there! It's not because she's a fraud or a lying despicable monster, it's because racism.>

Gay will stay on as a faculty member at Harvard, the Harvard Corporation said.

In a statement Tuesday, the Harvard Corporation wrote, "First and foremost, we thank President Gay for her deep and unwavering commitment to Harvard and to the pursuit of academic excellence. ... She has devoted her career to an institution whose ideals and priorities she has worked tirelessly to advance, and we are grateful for the extraordinary contributions she has made -- and will continue to make -- as a leader, a teacher, a scholar, a mentor, and an inspiration to many."

The resignation comes amid allegations of plagiarism over Gay's academic writings and following backlash over her response at a congressional hearing to questions about antisemitism on U.S. college campuses, which sparked calls for her to step down as president.

Gay testified before Congress in early December 2023 alongside the University of Pennsylvania's then-President Liz Magill and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology President Sally Kornbluth about how they are handling antisemitism on their respective campuses in the wake of the Oct. 7 Hamas attack on Israel.

A tense exchange between Gay and New York Republican Rep. Elise Stefanik became a focal point for criticism.

Stefanik asked Gay the hypothetical question: "Does calling for the genocide of Jews violate Harvard's rules on bullying and harassment?"

Gay responded, "The rules around bullying and harassment are quite specific and if the context in which that language is used amounts to bullying and harassment, then we take -- we take action against it."

Harvard and University of Pennsylvania are among the schools being investigated by the U.S. Department of Education for complaints of antisemitism and Islamophobic discrimination. Magill resigned from the University of Pennsylvania in early December.
