Des Moines Register

Lack of expertise

Paul cited his lack of expertise as a way to drive home his argument that the federal government is ill-equipped to manage certain areas of people's lives.

His position is more accurately "lack of omniscience." What a terrible hit piece.

That same article says he is for amnesty. I emailed the Report Abuse button about it, that article is total shit.

Ron Paul is making the point that government is inept when it tries to manage peoples religious, economic affairs and meddles in foreign countries.

Everybody needs to email them to correct their article, it's in the top 9 of a google news search for ron paul.

Here is what I sent:

The "Paul calls for limited government, privatizing war " article is highly misleading in that it leaves the impression that Dr. Paul supports amnesty for illegal aliens. This is the direct opposite of his position and is also very inflammatory. Please change or remove the article.

Did this print in the paper? If so, how are you going to change it now?

My email to Lisa at [email protected]

Lisa Rossi,

Thank you for your story entitled, "Paul calls for limited government, privatizing war" in this latest issue of the Des Moines Register.

Beyond the general tone and feel of the article, there is one glaring error that requires correction.

"...the end of federal involvement in education and amnesty for immigrants in the nation illegally."

Ron Paul is opposed to amnesty for immigrants in the nation illegally. Or, rephrased, Ron Paul does NOT support amnesty.

In this video taken in Iowa only yesterday or the day before, Ron Paul makes this clear.

(Towards the end)

Please, I hope you understand my concern for ensuring the factuality of an important article in a prominent newspaper during such an important time in Iowa politics.

I would respectfully ask that a second article be written expanding and clarifying Dr. Paul’s positions or, at the very least, a retraction be made for this factual error.

Thank you very much and I look forward to hearing from you in the resolution of this issue.

That article is so irresponsible its incredible. Who paid this hack off the is yellow journalism at its worst. I'm sick to my stomach.

Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul sketched out his vision of a limited government that includes the abolition of the Federal Reserve, the end of federal involvement in education and amnesty for immigrants in the nation illegally.

WTF, RP is AGAINST amnesty.

"I don't know the best thing for religious life," he said. "I don't know what's best for the economy. And I don't know what's best for the people in Iraq. It's not my responsibility."

Clearly he meant the religious life, economy of the people in IRAQ. That we shouldn't be interventionist.

They need to issue a HUGE retraction and write a new article stating the facts.

Note: Since this was in the DesMoines Register, I thought it a very big deal, so I forwarded the link to both Joe Seehusen and Jesse Benton, plus called the campaign to alert them to the issue.

The campaign should call

they would be more effective in getting a clarification article in, its time for Ron to be adamant about these things.

Yes. I'm looking right at it on page 3B. It's below articles on Giuliani, Obama, and McCain, which are bordered by articles on Brownback and Richardson.

I bet they'll try to say this is a syntax thing - that it says the END of federal involvement... and amnesty. Like it means the END of federal involvement and the END of amnesty. What do they teach in journalism school?

The "I don't know" paragraph was taken completely out of context and sounds bad.

I'd be shocked if they printed a clarification.

LET'S SPAM the DOGSHIT OUT OF EM!!

Dave, have you called them yet? Since you live in Iowa, it might have more of an impact than us calling them. I talked to a very nice woman in the managing editor's office.

Why don't you give them a call?

Dave,

Please call this person.
Their assistant, who had some official titled answered the phoned and seemed concerned about correcting it.

Actually, the entire article is a piece of crap. The writer is a moron. He obviously doesn't support amnesty and he doesn't support privatizing war. He supports using letters of marque to go after non-state enemies. I could have had my seven year old write a better piece out of his speech.
