David Gay RE: ANWR Oil Drilling

There's More Where That Came From

There's a long election season ahead of us. My primary isn't until September. I'll be releasing official positions to the press all summer...and you can rest assured that I will seek to educate the electorate as to which Constitutional Amendment applies to each circumstance!

I'm going to need money if I'm to keep going all summer, though! Please spread the word to any email lists you may have and any meetup groups you may be involved with about my 5/31 Moneybomb. I'm the only Ron Paul endorsed candidate in a race that was rated #1 most competitive by the Washington Post!

Let everyone know they can sign up to pledge for 5/31 at http://www.davidgay2008.com/pledge ... So far I only have 10 pledges.... Let's make it at least 300 by the end of the week!

Thank you so much for your help and encouragement.

David,

While I liked your answer, your Republican competitor gave an answer that is much more palatable to the general public, both Republican and Democrat, IMO. While it may not be relevant to staunch constitutionalists, the major reason that drilling has not been allowed in ANWR is because of conservation reasons.

I'm not saying to change your answer if that is exactly how you feel and conservation issues are irrelevant to you, but if they are, you may want to "humanize" your responses to things. Most people are not strict constitutionalists and will see your response as not addressing the conservation issue, whereas your opponent did.

It's hard to explain "Free Market Enironmentalism" in soud bites to the general populous. They've been conditioned since Kennedy that the Government has to take card of parks, etc.

That's for sure. Believe me, I have sympathy toward any RP Republicans who try to explain their stance in one paragraph.

Well, that's why I went straight to the Constitution...

I agree with Dale Sweetland on the issue, and even go a step further and stand on the principle of the Constitution.

I don't see the voters in my district as concerned with the conservation aspect of the question as much as I see desperation over the price of fuel. This is a government created disaster that could have been averted SO MANY years ago if we had done the right thing in the first place.

Come to think of it... Which of those two answers (dale sweetland and david gay) would Dr. Paul be more likely to agree with. This whole idea of "we can drill responsibly".... I'd like to know who "we" refers to. Remember it is NOT the business of the federal government to subsidize exploration for oil.

Paul would agree with yours, quite obviously. I only made the comment because it's my understanding that you aren't far away from where I am (Erie, PA) and the conservation aspect is a relatively big deal around these parts.

While it's not the business of the fed gov to subsidize exploration for oil, most people don't understand that or some of the other fine points.

And that's why I'm running for this House seat.

Don't expect these politicians from either side to teach the truth to the electorate!

I'm here to open the eyes of as many people as possible!

Let's show the people how prosperous we'd be if without the government on our backs.

As Dr. Paul's mentor, Ludwig Von Mises once said; Every problem in a free society is symptomatic of government interference in the free market.

The more people I can bring to that understanding...the better off we'll all be.

I've heard nothing but positive feedback from my local community about my stance on this issue...and that's in an 85% Democrat neighborhood!

I can win this race. The media has consistently treated me as a viable candidate.

I need the continued assistance and support of all like minded individuals throughout the nation... Please sign up to donate on May 31st!
