Ditz Dana: My opponent thinks the foreign bases are unconstitutional. I don't see how he can say that.

John: We're in this mess because we were loosey goosey in following the constitution. If you're going to read it, read it strictly. Article II section 8, where does it say that we can have these bases? I realize that there are people who disagree on this, but as a fiscal conservative I have to ask, do these bases make us any safer? Does a base in Zambia make us any safer? Does a base in Bulgaria make us any safer? Do we need to subsidize Japan's defense 65 years after WW II?
