Contacting Libertarian Celebrities

Good topic

Bill Maher -- whos' made no secret of his admiration for Dr. Paul -- is also a libertarian.

Maher's had Noam Chomsky on his program, and his views are libertarian but with a strong socialist flavor. In fact, I would love to see Dr. Paul discuss some of his ideas with Dr. Chomsky -- the exchange of ideas would be great. Maher's show could provide the platform.

bill maher is as much libertarian as the pope is muslim
;) I think the bigger worry is that Maher's too controversial. Still, he's on TV and Dr. Paul was able to get his message across clearly the last couple of times.

Any contact w/ Chomsky would be a riciculously huge mistake. Talk about throwing the antiRP crowd a bone.

What about Steve Forbes and Nolan Ryan, do they still support RP?

From the upcoming NY Times article on July 22nd:
"Paul had only two prominent backers: the tax activist Steve Forbes and the pitcher Nolan Ryan, Paul’s constituent and old friend, who cut a number of ads for him."

Although if they still back him, I'm sure RP himself will call them up when he deems appropriate.

I can just see Mr. Eastwood in a cowboy hat with a burnt down cigar plugging the American way that Dr. No supports haha ...

Steve Forbes has already endorsed Ghouliani.

This is a good thread. The big thing that Maher and say Barry Manilow ($2300 doner already) could do is (fund &) hold a fundraiser in the LA area for RP and invite all these libertarian leaning celebs and others. RP needs moolah to win this race and Hollywood has moolah. He should get donations from anti-war dem celebs that might not vote for him but can support his voice being heard in the republican race ! It's not mentioned much, but RP is anti-capital punishment and the majority of Hollywood agrees.

The finacial donations of these people would be almost as important as their endorsements ! We all KNOW if the Doc had the same money as his weak warmongering opposition, WE WIN !!!:D

I hardly think Ron Paul and Noam Chomsky would agree on many things -- the point is to exchange ideas. Ron Paul was recently interviewed by a rabid neocon radio show host who strutted the usual rubbish while knocking Dr. Paul's policies. And Ron Paul simply demolished each of these and reduced the guy to O'Reilly-style rudeness-by-way-of-argument. [click for 3-part interview]

My point is: a clash of ideas can be good. Just look at what came about from Giuliani's SC tantrum!

Eminem is rapping about 9/11 and wiretapping, Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg have MASSIVE influence, Tom Morello probably already supports Ron Paul (although he didn't say anything about him at Bonnaroo...) Tool, Queens of the Stone Age, Jadakiss, Quentin Tarentino(?), Fiona Apple, Eddie Vedder, T.I., Jay-Z, Johnny Depp. I don't know what their political views are, but just getting Snoop Dogg would be a BIG push.
