For those who have not had the great pleasure of meeting Carol, let me add a personal note. The Congressional staffers all LOVE Carol: when she was in DC it meant chili in a crock pot in Dr. Paul's office, a fruit basket, cookies (yes, staffers can be bribed!) or some other expression of her wonderfulness. I have only ever seen her smile, laugh, encourage and promote. With large gathers with family and everyone, she is always a gracious hostess.
At large events in Texas, you can tell she's truly loved by everyone. I went to Dr. Paul's birthday bash one year many years ago. At the end of the evening, there was an impromptu receiving line--for Mrs. Paul! She had published one of her wildly popular cookbooks for the campaign, and everyone was in line to meet her and get their cookbook signed (by Carol!). Dr. Paul was working her line of supporters, greeting everyone and shaking hands!
If one ever wondered how Dr. Paul can keep his composure, optimism and good humor without ever making personal attacks, one should understand the woman by his side.
