I want to buy bullion, especially from a great company like Apmex, but none of these companies seem to ship internationally. Does anyone know of a reputable dealer that ships to Europe??

The dealers here all have massive markups...

Thanks

I don't know of any place off hand that ships internationally so I can't answer that question, but I can understand why you have to pay so much for gold as in Europe they have something known as the VAT (Very Annoying Tax) all must pay when buying gold. It is my understanding there is no VAT when buying silver. (Or do I have it backwards?)

I asked the guy at our local dealer - where they're selling 1oz Argor Heraeus SA for $979.49 (after conversion) and buying it back for $910.94! I asked the shop guy why the hell it's so different from the market price and he said he had no idea.. no special taxes from what he knows. He said it was the shipping, but that's bullshit since Switzerland can ship a hell of a lot cheaper to Czech Republic than to US.

If it _is_ VAT at 19%, than using an Apmex price of 1oz of around $882 + 19% = $1049.58 so that doesn't work either, even if they sold at spot.

I can't figure this one out, except that maybe gold is taxed at the 5% VAT rate AND this place is just more expensive than Apmex, which I think is a certainty since it's a specialty neumistics (spelling?) shop in the center of Prague.

Anyway, it's the only place in CZ I could find selling bullion... I'm a 4 hour train ride away from Austria, but any Google search for a place there turns up that stupid Austrian Philharmoic coin, and I can't search in German. I just wish Apmex would ship internationally. Sigh

Have you looked on Ebay?

Yeah, but the selection seems pretty thin (and low weight). I found Kitco ships to Europe, but they have MIN $135 freight fee. For that price I might as well just buy the overpriced stuff here.....

I'M A 1 HOUR FLIGHT FROM SWITZERLAND AND I CAN'T BUY CHEAP GOLD.

Sigh.
