Maher: Don’t Go to an Elite College Like I Did, They’re Bigoted North Korean Re-Education Camps That Make You Dumb

IAN HANCHETT 21 Oct 2023

On Friday’s broadcast of HBO’s “Real Time,” host Bill Maher urged students not to go to elite colleges because doing so “just makes you stupid” and that these elite schools are “a North Korean re-education camp” that are racist towards Asian applicants that don’t teach history and “if ignorance is a disease, Harvard Yard is the Wuhan wet market.”

Maher began by saying, “As an Ivy League graduate who knows the value of a liberal education, I have one piece of advice for the youth of America: Don’t go to college, and if you absolutely have to go, don’t go to an elite college, because, as recent events have shown, it just makes you stupid. There are few, if any, positives to come out of what happened in Israel, but one of them is opening America’s eyes to how higher education has become indoctrination into a stew of bad ideas, among them the simplistic notion that the world is a binary place where everyone either an oppressor or oppressed. In the case of Israel, oppressors being babies and bubbes. The same students who will tell you that words are violence, and silence is violence were very supportive when Hamas terrorists went on a rape and murder rampage worthy of the Vikings. They knew where to point the fingers, at the murdered. And then it was off to ethics class.”

He added, “Now, I recognize that a certain amount of foolishness is expected of college kids, but mixing Jägermeister and tomato juice isn’t the same as siding with terrorists. Thirty-four student groups at Harvard signed a letter that said, ‘the apartheid regime is the only one to blame,’ proving they don’t know what constitutes apartheid. They don’t know much of anything, actually. But it doesn’t deter them from having an opinion. They’ve convinced themselves Israel is the most repressive regime in history, because they have no knowledge of history, or even a desire to know it, and actual history doesn’t come up in their intersectionality of politics and gender***** identities class.”

Maher further stated, “Now, to be fair, at least five of the student groups have rescinded what they signed, saying they didn’t read the letter closely and they promised not to make that mistake again after they graduate and start running the world. I actually believe them that they didn’t read the letter closely. I think they scanned it, [saw] it was blaming Israel, and went back to surfing TikTok. Because college life today is a day spa combined with a North Korean re-education camp. It’s a daycare center with a meal plan, except the toddlers can fire the adults. The fact that college presidents, who usually love to speak out about anything, couldn’t find their voice to condemn the worst attack [on Jews] since the Holocaust says a lot about who really controls colleges, and why, if ignorance is a disease, Harvard Yard is the Wuhan wet market.”

He added that elite schools are “the mouth of the river from which…all manner of radical left, illiberal — yes, illiberal — nonsense flows, supporting all-black — that is, segregated — dorms, segregated graduation ceremonies and orientation programs — which occur on hundreds of campuses — is illiberal. So is the racism against Asian applicants, and chasing speakers off of campus.”

Maher further rattled off a list of right-wing figures who went to elite institutions and stated that it’s “repulsive” to watch them pretend they hate elitists.

He’s right, but there is a bigger picture here.

When leftist colleges taught Marxism, it was all good.
When leftist colleges taught BLM propaganda, it was all good.
When leftist colleges supported riots, it was all good.
When leftist colleges supported arson, it was all good.
When leftist colleges supported vandalism and destruction, it was all good.
When leftist colleges supported looting, it was all good.
When leftist colleges supported tearing down statues, it was all good.
When leftist colleges taught reparations, it was all good.
When leftist colleges supported violently suppressing everything but leftist dogma, it was all good.
When leftist colleges taught decolonization, it was all good.

When leftist colleges applied all of the above, and did not pledge fealty, undying support, and unwavering love for Israel, it is the apocalypse, and everything needs to change.

Yes, I am looking at you Bill Maher.

University of Cambridge library ‘blacklists harmful books’ in decolonising drive
Move has triggered backlash from dons, one of whom called it ‘sinister, Orwellian and alarming’

{Ewan Somerville | 20 October 2023}

The University of Cambridge’s national library has been accused of blacklisting books in a “sinister” new decolonising drive, The Telegraph can disclose.

The University Library, one of just six legal deposit libraries in Britain with some 10 million books, is asking lecturers to flag “problematic” books that might be “offensive/harmful”.

Examples of such books are being sought from across the university’s colleges, with officials planning to draw up guidance for librarians and readers on how to cope with them.

It has triggered a backlash from dons, who have demanded that Cambridge librarians stop “sitting in judgment”.

In a memo sent to college librarians, seen by the Telegraph, the University Library said: “We would like to hear from colleagues across Cambridge about any books you have had flagged to you as problematic (for any reason, not just in connection with decolonisation issues), so that we can compile a list of examples on the Cambridge Librarians intranet and think the problem through in more detail on the basis of that list.”

The memo also called for “anything you are already doing in your library to address this or similar issues” to be sent to a special “decolonisation” email address.

One of those to pass on the message to dons was Pembroke College, who told staff in an email on Tuesday: “The University Library is currently compiling examples of offensive/harmful books and has asked me to circulate [this]. The intention is to put together some guidance for supporting librarians obliged to work with such materials, as well as working to better support readers.”

It is understood that many have already sent in examples of “problematic” books, including one by an ethnic minority author, but the library refused to reveal which ones when asked by The Telegraph.

But some dons are less impressed and fear it sets a dangerous precedent.

Prof David Abulafia, a leading historian at Gonville and Caius College, said: “Identifying books because they are seen as problematic itself has a very problematic history – witness bibliographies in the Nazi period where books by Jewish authors are marked with a star.

‘It would undermine library’s reputation’

“It is absolutely not the task of librarians to sit in judgment, least of all in a university where they don’t do any of the teaching and where it is vital to promote free debate.”

Another don warned it was “sinister, Orwellian and alarming” and said the books were being “blacklisted”.

Dr James Orr, a lecturer in divinity at Cambridge, said: “Research libraries should not be joining the culture wars. Creating an index of books that are problematic for one side of an issue – one about which both academics and the public profoundly disagree – would be a sinister development. It would undermine the University Library’s justified reputation as one of the finest institutions of its kind in the world.

“Institutional neutrality matters now more than ever, because without it academics will feel less free to dissent from the fashionable orthodoxies influencing the decolonisation movement.”

Cambridge’s University Library, founded in 1209, established a “decolonisation working group” in the aftermath of the Black Lives Matter protests of 2020, but it is continuing to expand with 17 current members.

The group says it is “actively re-contextualising library holdings which are a legacy of colonialism and occupation” and developing “policies and guidance relating to decolonisation”.

The decolonial movement has come in for fresh criticism since the Hamas-Israel war began, as some of its strongest proponents have sided with Palestine and refused to condemn Hamas, bringing their “anti-racism” credentials into sharp focus.

Through the legal deposit system which has existed since 1662, Cambridge’s University Library is allowed, along with five others in Edinburgh, Oxford, Dublin and Aberystwyth, to request and receive a copy of everything published in the UK.

A Cambridge University Library spokesman said: “Cambridge University Libraries do not censor, blacklist or remove content unless the content is illegal under UK law.”

The spokesman added that the library “proactively acquires a vast range of material from around the world, regardless of subject matter” and “we engage in dialogue with colleagues to help us continue to have open and honest discussions with readers about what we collect and why”.

Bill Maher - Elite colleges are North Korean re-education camps that make you stupid

Elite colleges are not "re-education camps".

Referring to them in that manner implies their students had been previously educated at some point.

It also implies that such previous education was somehow improper and in need of rectification.

Neither implication is correct.

Pre-college students are indoctrinated, not educated; thus, colleges ("elite" or otherwise) are merely "continuing indoctrination" camps.

Case in point:

Cuomo Doubles Down | Part Of The Problem 1052

On this episode of Part Of The Problem, Dave and Robbie Listen to Andrew Cuomo on Bill Maher, where they talk about gov't response to the Covid outbreak, and then we listen to Patrick Bet-David end the presidential aspirations of Ron DeSantis.

Well, this could be filed under "The Picking of Nits", but you make a valid point.

K-12 is Marxist Indoctrination 101.

University is Advanced Marxist Indoctrination.
