This guy is bad news for our movement. The conspiracist in me believes that this guy is really an agent of the neocons, while the realist believes that he's just an opportunist that is trying to "ride the wave," of the R3volution for his own personal reasons.

Either way he is no Ron Paul and no libertarian.

Obama is a much better candidate than McCain on a policy level, and would therefore be a better President. But a McCain victory -- which would then force a one-on-one primary challenge in 2012 -- may be the best option for the prospects of the movement.

Well, i agreed with you until the last sentence.

McCain winning would be the worst thing possible not only for our country, but for our movement. If the republican party can retain power, then there is no room for our take over. On the otherhand, if the GOP loses the presidential race and continues to lose house seats, the party is prime for a takeover.

So your sayng the neo-cons are sending Barr to derail our efforts by costing Mccain the election?

ummmmm... and yes you will be attacked for endorsing Mccain, cause to most of us, we'd rather see Mccain lose.

While 4 of a dem president may be bad, it's the bitter medicine needed to FORCE the republican party to reform.

+1

didn't barr join the libertarian party way before ron paul got popular?

this is the point, but we still need a way to cast our votes in the gen election to send a message that, "we're here"

I've seen various people try to use reason several times today.
All times- to no affect.
Let them show their true colors by continuing to attack someone who is on our side.

Bob Barr is no Ron Paul, but I'd vote for him if I can't vote for Ron Paul.

he's also the Bob Barr who has spoken out against the neo-conservative movement for its super-patriotic suppression of dissent, rising beliefs in a "tax-and-spend" bureaucracy, and unqualified support of the PATRIOT Act.

Bob Barr isn't the ogre portrayed by many liberals and moderates, nor is he the saint that the conservatives believe. He is just a man of principle who believes our Constitution must be protected and defended against all enemies-foreign and domestic.

It looks like Bob Barr has let himself get talked into seeking the presidential nomination of the Libertarian Party: according to my sources, he does so with the full support of Ron Paul. Which means it looks like the Paulian Revolution is not only alive and kicking, it's also in the best possible position. With conservatives openly disdainful of McCain for all sorts of reasons, most of them conducive to a libertarian spin, the Barr Factor could very well play a major role in accomplishing the two major electoral goals not only of libertarians, but of all the War Party's most dedicated opponents.
