Are you from Iowa?

Did you attend your County Convention and are you now a Delegate or Alternate Delegate to one of the 5 Congressional District Conventions on April 19th? If so, congratulations!

Are you thinking about running to be a Delegate or Alternate Delegate to the National Convention in September in St. Paul? If so, you need to get your campaign started at your District Convention on April 19th.

Getting to the National Convention from Iowa is challenging. I am familiar with the process. Send me a PM if you'd like to discuss it.

I'll keep this bumped for a couple days. Please just send me a PM if you want to discuss. Thanks.

Good to see ya Dave! How are things looking in Iowa?

I don't know of a single Ron Paul supporter from Iowa who's interested in running for National Delegate.

;) ;) ;)

I hope things are going well for you out front carrying our flag!

I can't believe no one wants to run for national delegate. that is horrible.
WTF?

I know of several people who are planning on running for national delegate from Iowa. We could definitely use more, but I think people here are pretty much conceding the nomination to McCain. Some still want to go and vote on the platform and other stuff, but I know I would be much more motivated to continue on if we were in a closer race. I personally think there are other, more important, causes and campaigns than Republican party platform, but I certainly wouldn't try to discourage anyone from getting involved. As long as we're all still working towards the same goal, it might take a few more years, but we'll get there eventually.

I will be attending the State Convention, and I hope to make it to the National Convention also. I have no plans to vote for McCain or even to pledge to do so. Iowa delegates are completely unbound by law and by party rule, so the Old Guard can bite my ass. Any pointers for a first time delegate would be greatly appreciated. Dave, I talked to you via email but you seemed very confused. Sorry about that, but I still want advice. :)

Looks like you Iowans have 5 congressional districts and elect 3 national Delegates in each one next weekend. And then also elect at large delegates at the state convention later.

You really should have candidates running in each congressional district.

Heck you don't have to drive far to St.Paul for the national convention. Plus the Minnesota State fair will be on then and I gotta believe you would love that.

So anyway what you need to do is go "Stealth" which is how your neighbors in Minnesota grabbed a bunch of the delegates elected there at their Congressional District conventions.

Be sure to have just 3 people on your "Slate" or 6 if you get to vote for six (3 delegates and 3 alternates) during the ballot.

Get up there and say you are uncommitted and get votes from all your RP people and whatever else you can from others there.

You have to be organized and everyone know who the "Slate" candidates are.

Just hope that there are many people running and your "Slate" has enough support to elect 1 or 2 people in each district (or all three as in Nevada 2 Cd's) by the McCain people splitting their votes amongst a lot of people running while you guys stick to your 3 or 6.

Come on guys and gals this is important. You had like what 15% RP support at the straw ballot at the caucuses? And you are saying you don't have candidates for national Delegates?

Come on are you going to let the revolution down?

You have to be organized and it ain't that hard. Just have some communication beforehand and pick your slate, run uncommitted and don't mention RP and vote as a block.

If you want more detailed info PM me.

We are counting on you to get some people to Minnesota for the convention.

I know as a former Minnesotan you Iowans don't like to go up there and we certainly had our share of Iowan driver jokes but we need some of you there.

Hell, with the price of soybeans and corn you all must be millionaires?

Don't let us down send a few delegates.

I was confused - I didn't recognize your name. Sorry about that. I replied again to your email.

Iowa's District Presidential Caucuses are June 13 (Friday night) in Des Moines - the night before the State Convention.

Perhaps a few copies of the Revolution Manifesto should be mailed out to the delegates in Iowa.. :)

I am with you on that one,

The Revolution By Mail will begin very shortly.

I hope everyone either has books or will be buying them for this project. I see us really getting the message to the delegates before November.

Along with this effort can be simply buying more copies and sending them to friends and family with the stamp on the inside cover (info on that in the thread linked in my sig).

Let the delegates at least READ what Ron Paul is really about without any media hype making him out to be crazy. I can see this book being that lightbulk that CLICKS on for many of them and that might end up coming out at the national convention.

Who knows what this effort might end up producing for us.

My wife is.

Jigsawgyrl sent you a PM last night, right?
Becoming a delegate in Iowa is not a simple or easy process, but I highly encourage people to try.
Just make sure you contact your District coordinator so we don't split our votes.

And remember, we are ALL ambassadors for Ron Paul and the liberty movement (especially the delegates) and need to be aware of the responsibility that places on our shoulders.

Good luck!
