We need an award for posters whose comments only bring up topics to inflame and divide the movement.

Maybe we could call it "The Wedgie"?;)

That is really all the reply that some posts deserve.

I believe the term is called "Troll"

Hahah... why reinvent the wheel? :D

Troll is a valid generic term...

Trolling with a purpose (other than trying to incite comments, gain attention, or notoriety) is something which we (RPF, CFL, etc.) need to be especially sensitive to.

Wedge-issues are the tools of choice for derailing liberty movements.

After all, we ARE so eminently fractureable (?).

But you're right, we don't REALLY need another term; just a greater awareness that some posts/issues (maybe even like "Who should we vote for in November?"), while interesting, are not truly germane to a long term effort to retake our country.

You know, a troll is a troll is a troll.

That said, many organizations get publicity and attention by awarding this kind of 'award' to actual politicians. The Golden Fleece Award comes to mind. Why couldn't we award Wedgies to actual politicians for using wedge issues to try to distract us from real, pertinent issues?

For this purpose, I dearly love the name 'Wedgie'!

Maybe awarding troll points to individual posts could be used by trolls with multiple accounts just as easily as it could be anyone else?

I recon we should discriminate based on the length of time you've been a member. That way, if someone comes in with new ideas / logic & reasoning / with things to say we don't like, or don't want to hear - we can call them a troll & ban them!

It'd be like only letting those with land vote!

LOL!

Well, I guess it wasn't such a good idea. :)

I still like the name, though. Couldn't we give an award for politicians using wedge issues to distract us? It certainly furthers our goal of education, and could get this forum a little publicity to boot...

And for the first I nominate Dubya, which I do admit is a no-brainer (in so many ways).

'I'm a uniter not a divider' and 'you're either with us or against us'.

Politicians? Sure...

Politicians love using wedge issues.
The NeoCon Republicans are masters of this.

For example, why do you think "social" conservative issues (Right to life, stem cell research, gay marriage, prayer in school, etc. etc. ad nauseum) get so much media attention?

Because we (including anybody with a clue about the REAL threats to liberty) can literally debate these issues f-o-r-e-v-e-r without coming to any satisfactory consensus. We can only create hard feelings and/or dissension.

And these are also "safe" issues for the NWO because it can continue blissfully regardless of which side "wins".

Yes, I would be happy to see politicians awarded "Wedgies" as long as people within the movement could identify (and hopefully AVOID) similar topics within our own groups/forums.*

*I know this will never really happen, but we can always hope.:)
