My brother and I were having an interersting conversation, and the talk turned to the tanking of the dollar in order to usher in the Amero.

The question is, what happens to gold and silver prices if the Amero is introduced? Will it be pegged at a certain amount of Ameros? I would think there would have to be some sort of manipulation occuring in order to prop up the new Amero (why not repeat the mistakes of the past), but would like to hear other's thoughts since I'm pretty new to pm's and Austrian Economics in general.

Thoughts?

I have always thought it would be made of various metals. I have one here but it is only a novelty prototype. It is made of copper.

I don't really believe they have decided about the weight and material they would use if they even started using something called an Amero.

It might turn out to be a plastic card or microchip. It could even turn out to be a world wide currency all kept track of in computers and a plastic card or microchip would be used to record transactions.

I think it is still pretty much up in the air and if there have been plans made up, we won't know about them till it happens.

There may never be anything called an Amero.... they might call it something else and it would be a worldwide currency.

For the Amero to happen, the dollar and the canadian dollar has to first be brought down close enough to the Peso in value before we unify as one.

So to best answer your question, look at the relationship of gold to the Peso. The Amero should be stronger than the Peso (maybe 2-3x) but it should give a good indication. As to what things cost in Peso's, I'm not sure.

I have estimated that 1 Amero will be worth about 10 cents.

That makes sense that they would have to be brought down to parity with the Peso to make Americans feel it would be worth it. That would be our "rock bottom" as a country and allow the people to be convinced it is a good idea.

I think you are right on the money there.

I am against the Amero.
We give too much of our soveirngty(sp) away with it.
I am similarily against the Euro and the EU in general.

They might try to back it with silver or gold to sell us on the Amero, but I can't believe that in time they wouldn't do the same to the new currency as they have done to our dollar. It's like Alex Jones says, first they create the crisis, then they turn around and pose as your savior with the "solution" which only gives them more control over you.

The dollar really has to sink for this to happen. Peoples way of life in the US & Canada will be utter crap. Then the Amero will come along and appear as the savior. The biggest benefit will come to the Mexican people, they will gladly accept it over their worthless Peso.

get one from TruthRadio.com, they only ask for voluntary donation.

So send them silver spot price + 10% + shipping?

Not necessarily.

USD is already very unstable.

All that needs to happen is one of the 3 currencies crash to nothing, preferably the most abudant (and guess which one it's most likely to be).

Pesos and Canadian dollars don't need to be close to what USDs are, they just need to be willing to trade it in. In fact, it's better than 3 currencies DON'T have interchangable values that'll help sell Amero as an INCENTIVE to SIMPLIFY trading. If 3 currencies were already interchangable, having a unified currency would be redundant.

The Amero (and Euro) is a means to facilitate trade and consolidate control, not the result of trade or lack of control.
