At least 10 dead in two-town Alabama shooting spree

http://www.cnn.com/2009/CRIME/03/10/shooting.alabama/index.html

The rally cry for the 'lets get the guns' crowd?

Couldnt have come at a worse time. The stock market is making a false rally.. before a cataclysmic decline. Feds are outlawing private food distribution and subsidizing forces that discourage food production. Warm weather will have people thinking more about 'street crime'.

Well many were expecting some incident to justify a ban.
I would like to hear more about this, but that will take a while for that to come out.
A couple things stand out as strange.

Alabama

Trust Me,there are some God feelin people and others there, that willl not allow the current admin in.

What a sad story. I missed the news this evening. Thanks for posting the link.

I was just reading that story and that exact same thought arose. The article makes a point to say "30 rounds fired from a semi-automatic weapon". We all know what kind of guns carry 30 rounders. It really does seem convenient how these sorts of things happen right at the "opportune times", doesn't it?

Catalyst?

Only if we let it.

Sorry but that "somebody somewhere did something so give up your rights" crap is for collectivists.

Do we see pushes to ban high performance cars everytime some kid gets killed in one?

No.

We know what this is really about.

And yes, I can hear some of you whining already, about how you will be demonized so much that you don't stand a chance.

Big fucking deal. So they paint you as some kind of ogre because you won't give up your guns to "prevent such tragedy". 9 people is nothing compared to the 10s of millions slaughtered by their own governments after being disarmed.

And yet another case of someone who goes nuts and then kills himself. How convenient.

If I must stand alone because the rest of you are sitting around saying "but....but.... it's the bad press. The media is saying bad things about us....". Then to hell with you all and you deserve to be subjugated for the rest of your lives run by plutocrats.

Let them "never let a crises go to waste" on this one. Bring on the fight. I am ready for it, and our will to fight to maintain our rights, what is remaining of them, is the only thing to protect us. Not getting some media sock puppets to say nice things, not getting the NRA to write some snarky (but otherwise useless article), not paying off enough worthless politicians.

Back in 2000 they attempted to use Columbine as America's "Port Arthur Massacre" - that was intended to the "it" for getting America disarmed. But there as the Tyranny Response Team and and we drove them back. I ran the Florida chapter.

You know why the TRT (and much credit goes to the SAS - Second Amendment Sisters) was so successful?

Our message was not "don't ban our guns! We have a right to protect ourselves from muggers and go deer hunting!".

No.

Our message was "We are not giving up anything and if you ban them you will have a fight on your hands".

We rolled military vehicles in Denver.

They might have even murdered one of the founders (The "Original Eight") of the TRT, "Labgrade" (his memorial is still at freerepublic) for such insolence.

Sorry. I don't care what some sokkermoms or what Eric Holder says about me. I am not giving up a damned thing and if they want to take it then Molon Labe.

Catalyst? Yes, or at least they'd like it to be.

Manchurian Candidate? Definitely. It's awful convenient that these "spree" shooters always off themselves when they're done.

As an Alabamian, my heart goes out to the families affected, and I have nothing but sympathy for their loss. But I'm not giving up my right to defend myself because of what happened. If anything, it's even more reason to carry.

I agree with the good Doktor, MOLON LABE!

Just some more victims of the economic collapse.

Damn money changers.

Controlling the money supply of a nation really does usurp all laws and steal weath from the nation as a whole.. all of this do goodism for spending money to take care of people simply puts more control in the hands of those who control the debt.. and it leads to the worst of human suffering. Case in point yesterday.

We will know if this and the German case were SRI induced.

We will know when all of the sudden the news drops the stories.

Maybe we should nip this in the bud and promote this as a reason for LESS guns laws. I'm pretty sure everyone on this board would agree that if everyone was packing this spree would have not lasted this long.

You're right of course but you'll never win any converts with that argument. Many of the anti-gunners would find the idea of ever carrying a gun themselves to be unsettling, and the idea of "everybody" being armed just plays into their fears and turns them off. Aside from the obvious rights arguments, the pragmatic argument I reach for is that criminals will *always* have weapons and leverage, and to prevent honest people from defending themselves is wrong, especially if honest people are the only ones disarmed.

i would feel much more comfortable if all law abiding citizens were allowed to exercise their right to bear arms. I have a concealed "privilege" permit, but wish I could open carry. I would rather carry one of my full sized sidearms on my hip with 15-17 round capacity, two extra mags and the stopping power I feel is sufficient. All I can carry now (100% of the time) is my 7+1 capacity 9mm with an extra mag.

Komiefornia? I am glad I live in a free State - well kinda more/less lol. We still have privilege permits as well :o I carry a G20 10mm with 15rnd mag and Sig pro .40 with 12 rnd mag depending on weather and clothing.

Anybody notice that they claim an M-16 shot a 30 round burst and the rounds were stopped by a police issue vest?
